Gators and respirators are very different. Wearing a K/N95 mask in public spaces (especially healthcare, transportation, grocery/pharmacy) is critical to normalize masks as a public health tool vs tool of oppression.

Excellent!
✅ relatable hook “No one wants to be sick”
✅ acknowledge rampant viral threat (SARS) AND make it broader to emphasize many other airborne viruses are spreading and try to keep those who tune out at the C word reading
✅ recommend best action first (stay home)
✅ clearly state value of 😷
Whether or not it’s COVID-19, no one wants to be sick. If you’re not feeling well, it’s kind and important to stay away from others and avoid exposing them to your illness. But if you have to go out, wearing a mask can prevent spreading illness to others!

Even if you’ve had COVID-19 in the past or have been vaccinated, it is still possible to become infected, experience serious illness, and infect others! Stay up to date on vaccines, wear masks, get tested, and stay home if you’re not feeling well to help reduce risks for yourself and others.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

“We may be witnessing the emergence of a population-level acquired immune deficiency — not sexually transmitted, but airborne.”

That line isn’t from a tweet. It’s from a peer-reviewed paper in AJPM Focus (2025).

Wearing a respirator mask in all public spaces during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 is both rational and necessary.

The cruelty of saying “hospitals are ready” by increasing ICU beds and body bags… instead of fixing the ventilation.

Just mull over that for a bit #MedSky.

A clear disconnect…
People who value my critical reasoning abilities and insight on a range of topics can’t fathom that there may be a legitimate basis for my continued respirator use.

I appreciate everyone advocating for better!
Words matter. Actions matter.
Why I appreciate when advocates wear a respirator:
-Reinforces that everyone is vulnerable
-Promotes the value of preventing re/infection
-Normalizes a pro-social behavior
-Aligns with message and goals

There’s a historic indoor clean air high level event at the UN today.

@drbronking.bsky.social is of course leading by example wearing a high quality mask while chairing the meeting 👏👏👏

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

If you're a reporter, please stop referring to RFK Jr and his cronies as "vaccine skeptics." They're not skeptical. Skepticism would be fine. Skeptics look at evidence and can be persuaded.

These people are extremist anti-vaccine cranks, and that's how news organizations should describe them.
