"Non-violent tactics that waste a company’s time or money are really effective. For Enterprise, we’ve made and cancelled car reservations, saying the roads are too icy. At Home Depot... people [lined] up to buy ice scrapers and then getting in line to return them, in a way that clogs the lines."
"We had one hotel publicly refuse to house ICE, which became a big national news story when DHS went after them. That’s a hotel we were targeting, and it was mostly because of our pressure. We had two more hotels temporarily shut down to avoid housing ICE..."

My latest: How Renee Good's murder and paramilitary assaults on US cities reflect longstanding right-wing race war fantasies and Stephen Miller's fixation with a novel about white genocide. I also talk about the stories we tell and live in opposition to these narratives and share a must-reads list.
Choosing Each Other in a Time of Terror
Rather than being disbanded or intimidated by Good’s murder, the people of Minneapolis have been galvanized, escalating their resistance and refusing to retreat from the work of protecting one another...

The odds are irrelevant. There's what is and what should be, what's worth fighting for, and what cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. Who are you, and what do you believe we owe to each other? For that matter, what justice are you owed? The answers to those questions must be lived.

I understand recoiling in fear, tuning things out, or retreating — I fully get it, on an emotional level. But I can't imagine not fighting. I simply cannot fathom seeing these forces at work in our world, let alone in close proximity to me, and not saying "fuck that" and throwing down.

If you see what is happening in America as an aberation as opposed to something built deeply into the system well before Trump, you will miss the solution to it.

Fascism did not come out of thin air. It was in the bloodstream from the beginning. To achieve democracy, removing Trump won't be enough.

Your reminder that what happened to Renee Nicole Good is something that happens regularly in America. This is not new, but it is an expanded version of militarized people targeting Black people in particular.

From ICE detention to murder with impunity, we've been doing it. Now it's broadened.

The sheer number of videos of the shooting is horrific, but in the vein of what @prisonculture.bsky.social has been saying, it proves how many people cared enough to show up where ICE was and record them. It wasn't just one or two legal observers, and when Good was shot, they didn't abandon her.
