I can’t promise that this is the first time a Canadian publisher of a beloved children’s book series has publicly condemned the bloodthirsty US secretary of defense’s use of its imagery to smirkingly defend heinous war crimes. I mean who can say.

Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.

Loving today's news that the mysterious "fedora man" outside the Louvre heist was actually a 15-year-old museum visitor who dresses like a 1940s French detective all the time, just because. apnews.com/article/louv...

hey, remember when I posted this two months ago and everyone said I was misunderstanding the article and costs were up AND sales were down?

(this is HCP but the Amazon and audiobook sales will carry across publishers, I think)

2025 is different, so we're doing our #GivingTuesday differently this year. We'll be donating 10% of sales from 12-8PM on Tuesday, December 2nd to 5 local nonprofits working to support different aspects of our community. More info & to RSVP (which is not required, but certainly appreciated) 👇
Giving Tuesday at Porter Square Books: Cambridge Edition
We know this year, for many different reasons, members of our community are having to make difficult decisions about where to spend their often increasingly limited money, wanting to support the causes that matter to them and the people in their lives that matter to them.

"Tzefardea Tzedek" (Frog of Righteousness)

As soon as the Portland Frog became a meme, Jewish social media blew up with jokes about the 2nd Passover plague - tzefarde'a (frogs) - and the Rabbinical commentary around it. I knew I had to make a calligraphy piece encompassing all of it. (more in alt.)

And the parent of the recipient discovers that their kid can handle way more story than she thought they could! (Me, underestimating the toddler? Never.)
I gotta say, little golden books/paperback early readers make the BEST party favors for littles. They're cheap, and it's far superior of a takeaway than a bunch of plastic bullshit that's just gonna end up in the trash.

1. Yesterday, millions showed up to the No Kings Rally.

Perhaps no one Rally was as full of subtext as Boston's, however.

Senator Markey showed up wearing a trans pride flag. His challenger, anti-trans Dem Rep. Seth Moulton showed up to boos and jeers.

Book salespeople of bluesky! I need a publisher sales rep for an event in Spartanburg, SC in Nov. Would be great if they can talk up book club choices / romance / etc for spring 2026. Happy to put them up in a hotel if they're coming from more than a quick drive. Our couple of reps have conflicts.

Today's challenge in Cambridge. Can you tell Connor, Josh, & Sam apart given they all have beards and glasses? Difficulty level: Apparently impossible. :)

My toddler is available to give lessons. Somehow he is already a master of this.
I want to re-introduce the eyeroll to millions of people who, for admittedly known structural reasons, seem to have developed only one setting to respond to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. Sometimes? Just roll your eyes and keep it moving.
