There may not be as much humanity in the world as one would like to see. But there is some. There's more than one would think.

There are many many steps and access points to fuck with elections. But this is increasingly verboten "doomerism" on Bluesky and got me blocked by Jamelle Bouie, whom I used to respect, just yesterday.

There's many things "Trump can't do" that he's done because not one member of his party dares challenge him.

Trump "can't" rename the Kennedy Center
Trump "can't" remove funding from *pick a thing*
Trump "can't" attack *pick a country*
Trump "can't" raid election sites

As we saw in Florida on election day 2000, dissuading even a small handful of voters from the polls can have history-altering consequences.

The point of this isn't to be a doomer, but to make clear that there is a clear and present danger to free and fair elections in November. Hopefully this genuine threat drives turnout no matter what the White House does.

They're going to do whatever they physically can to suppress Democratic votes in November — legal or illegal. Trump doesn't have to cancel elections to win. He just has to swing a few in key states to keep the House and Senate.

Fulton County is just one example. There are a million ways to throw wrenches into voting nationwide. Or to suppress votes. *All without actually canceling an election.* That's the threat and it's real.

Honestly tired of people telling me Trump "can't cancel the elections." It's not a literal point. Can he cancel each state election? No.

But can he intimidate or arrest election administrators? Yes. Can he pressure Republican secretaries of state to suppress votes? Yes. Havoc on election day? Yes.
“.. U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard speaks on the phone while standing inside a vehicle loaded with boxes outside the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center after the FBI executed a search warrant there.”

Masking is not about doxing. That is the excuse. They are wearing masks so people cannot identify agents who engage in abuses, civil rights violations, and crimes. You can’t report someone or hold them accountable in any way if you can’t identify them.

Trump’s fundraisers are now using the threat of dispatching ICE against citizens as an email engagement tactic.

Lmao and we're really saying we should keep this dogshit open. The federal government is a piggy bank for Trump and that's it. If Dems hadn't folded in November he wouldn't have been able to get ICE paid and he wouldn't have been able to justify invading Venezuela with a closed government
SHAHEEN: It's been reported that the oil sold for $500 million and $300 million went to Venezuelan government. What happened to the other $200 million?

RUBIO: It's still sitting in the account is my understanding

SHAHEEN: The account in Qatar?

RUBIO: Yes

Of course. And that’s why Dems need to lean in and work towards dismantling ICE.
First no funding.
Impeach Noem.
Demand hearings on ICE’s operation in MN.
Demand that Miller resign.

Don’t let up.
“An administration official gave away the game to Punchbowl News, admitting that these “de-escalatory measures” are about placating Senate Democrats so they don’t seize this moment to demand restrictions on ICE as part of any government funding package.”

Donald Trump Is Frightened
Trump wants to appear eager to minimize out-of-control clashes between government militias and protesters. But he doesn’t want to stop the things causing those clashes in the first place.

Indeed, Anne Frank was a teenager who was culturally Dutch, having moved here at age 4, but was not a citizen. For Americans asking what they would do for a non-citizen child facing deportation to an unsafe country they never knew, there is a lot to think about here.

This mindset is genuinely pathetic.

It’s an alpha fantasy: watching state violence and imagining you’re exercising power rather than the one submitting to it.

Many political journalists see their job not as reporting on reality but as a way to assist Trump and the GOP in propping up their false anti-reality.
before you take any of the "Trump is pivoting/lamenting/lowering the temperature after the Pretti murder" stories too seriously, absolutely nothing has changed in Minneapolis: "an absolutely brutal day of raids and abductions" says one friend
