As per @treatmentactiongroup.org and MSF’s analysis, TB trials that are at risk include new drugs and shorter, safer regimens for treatment and prevention, an optimised regimen for TB meningitis, and therapeutic and preventive vaccines.

Cutting support to sites in South Africa that are part of international clinical trial networks could derail up to 30% of global TB trial enrollment and between 50-90 % for studies focused on pediatric and pregnant populations.

Today in PLOS Global Public Health, MSF has published the costs of its landmark TB-PRACTECAL clinical trial. This is the first time the detailed costs of an individual clinical trial have ever been shared, challenging the lack of transparency in drug R&D costs 🧵

Gratitude and respect for these perseverant, dedicated campaigners who’ve carried the baton through every storm and battle - your integrity, passion, and tireless ethic bring hope, even in the darkest of times. You are the heartbeat of #TimeFor5. Thank you for never giving up. 💛✊
TBFighters went to Danaher's door today with a simple message: it's #TimeFor5, to release their audit, and put #PeopleOverProfits. If 600 emails in one day aren't enough to make our voices heard, we'll just keep shouting louder! tbfighters.org/action

This weekend was the most uplifting, inspiring one I’ve had this year amidst all political chaos. John Green's works are a gift to humanity! I feel privileged, humbled to find myself in this sea of global health & #tuberculosis advocates. A ray of hope this #WorldTBDay day to continue the fight.

It's #WorldTBDay. Let's remember that even before recent threats to #Tuberculosis funding, there was a funding gap for #TBdiagnosis, #TBtreatment, and #TBresearch.

We must increase (not decrease) global health investments to fight this epidemic.

It's #WorldTBDay.

To ensure quick diagnosis and early treatment, WHO recommends the use of rapid molecular #tuberculosis (TB) tests as the initial diagnostic test for all persons with signs and symptoms of TB.

For $200 million, you can either have:
10 hit-or-miss episodes of #Severance
-or-
67 million tuberculosis tests, if #Danaher actually sold them at cost
-or-
pay off the entire national debt of Sierra Leone
