Luckily I can draw on my vast experience of no previous ultras and years of mostly flat road running.
I seem to have accidentally on-purpose signed up for a trail ultra marathon (after a single glass of wine). I only logged on to the site to see if it was happening this year & was caught off guard by the fact that registration was open and not full up. Don't know how/when I'm going to tell the wife!

It’s that time of year when I get caught out by the time change. Started my ‘afternoon’ run in the twilight but came back an hour later in the pitch black. #RunningPunks

Watching a dodgy horror film on prime video (‘The Breach’). I thought ‘wow that chap looks just like Alex Lifeson, the guitarist from Rush’. Just checked the credits and it is! Not only that, but the film is directed by Slash! Rock’n roll royalty #WhoKnew

Silently anxious about my level of fitness, nutrition, hydration, footwear, clothing, weather, not getting enough sleep, oversleeping, chafing, travel to start line & everything else possible. It currently taking longer to register & get my race number than it will to run the actual #DublinMarathon tomorrow. The queue outside is at least 0.5 km. Good job it’s not raining. If you haven’t registered yet you should probably get in the queue!

Look at all these suckers driving to work in their warm dry cars with their cups of coffee, listening to their radio stations. They probably won’t even have to shower & change when they get to the office. I bet they wish they were running to work like me! #RunningPunks
