When I moved back to Canada after 20+ years in the US, the high school friends I'd kept in touch with were the ones to put me and my family up while we adjusted. We still get together and hang out when we can. I'm really lucky to have them.

what sucks is i'm seeing this energy filter to the retail side as well and less excitement about books that aren't *already* successes from booksellers! it's the WORST!!
one of my least favorite new publishing "truths" is that books only deserve consistent marketing & publicity if they are already doing well, it's the new "needs experience to get experience" 🤡

Personally I think this sucks because the historical line had some great writers, and I sincerely hope they find new publishing homes. But between the decline of historical romance (the subgenre) sales and the death of the mass market paperback, it's a tough environment.

A lot of people seem to be reading this as all of Harlequin shutting down. It's the historical romance line that's being closed. Harlequin has had been having a banner year (even though it's just February) because of Heated Rivalry. (Although as many will point out, it could've been even better.)

A lot of people seem to be reading this as all of Harlequin shutting down. It's the historical romance line that's being closed. Harlequin has had been having a banner year (even though it's just February) because of Heated Rivalry. (Although as many will point out, it could've been even better.)
The book has a couple of romance subplots, but my favourite one is a Very Sherry Thomas Experience.
