The sky over New York tonight said 'I have opinions about local politics' and chose these exact colors... nature's timing is undefeated 🧡💙

why is this mayoral election different than all other mayoral elections?

in all other mayoral elections, we get to see andrew cuomo lose but once. but in this mayoral elections, we get to see him lose *twice*.

Not including mailed ballots (more than 107k of which have been returned), this fully local election is likely to have a turnout that exceeds 2 million by the end of the night. It will definitely be the highest turnout in a NYC municipal election since 1969, the last time we topped 2 million.

Teen Vogue did some great journalism around immigration detention and enforcement. Sounds like corporate has now killed that off.

The media landscape shrinks even further.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

This is devastating. @teenvogue.com has had some of the best political coverage of the last decade. Maybe longer.

Local NYC reporters should moderate all debates. National included.

This answer from Sliwa was significantly better than Cuomo’s and I am wildly surprised and at the same time not, because Sliwa was actually in NYC during its hardest years (which are definitively NOT now).
Sliwa calls for not prosecuting sex workers but for prosecuting “the madames and johns” and the absentee landlords who own buildings that sex workers operate out of – so basically the Nordic model.

“Harassment and intimidation are illegal” - Andrew Cuomo

Seems sus coming from you… ya know… considering your own track record of harassing and intimidating women and others….

We're 30 minutes into this debate and no one has asked a single question about education, transit, policing, housing, etc etc
As a Jewish New Yorker, can I humbly ask the moderators of this debate to ask the candidates about their city policies, not their foreign policies?

So, the New York Times totally told Bloomberg that, after the comment section got out of control, they couldn’t publish another column like Ezra’s from last week, and he decided to self-publish it instead. Right?

This week, I was out w/Manhattan District Leaders. The East Side DLs had either never met or only briefly interacted with Lasher, while the West Side DLs knew Bores well and liked him, even if they planned to support Lasher later. This aligns with my experience with voters on both sides of the park.
NEW: An open Congressional seat at the heart of Manhattan.

Media elites, a Kennedy heir, billionaires, & many ambitious pols are in the mix to succeed Jerry Nadler.

Yet, the story of the race won't be Trump, Israel, or Socialism — but West vs. East.

Pundits are focusing on Kirk’s willingness to debate people while studiously ignoring the people whose basic humanity he was willing to debate
The lionization of Charlie Kirk genuinely proves the point about centrists and leading media figures. The man dehumanized women, minorities, transgendered people, Muslims, etc was building bridges by debating others on these views that all these people are less than human. What a great guy.

In his Oval Office address on political violence, Trump lists the attempt on his life, the Scalise shooting, and attacks on ICE agents.

He does not mention Jan 6th, the attack on the Pelosi family, the Hortman murders, the kidnapping attempt on Gretchen Whitmer, or the fire at Gov Shapiro’s house.
Trump: "For years those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism we're seeing in our country & it must stop right now. My admin will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity"

"Political violence, unfortunately, has ramped up in this country ... I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president's rhetoric often foments it."
