SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

Horrified by the proposed closure of Modern Languages @uniofnottingham.bsky.social This would end language higher education in the East Midlands & decimate the uni’s research profile. Shortsighted and reckless. #University_of_Little_England #SaveNottinghamLanguages #WeAreUoN

This is a good rebuttal to ludicrous attacks from the hardly impartial hard right. We must defend the BBC before it is too late.

Great and brave reporting by the upstart startup Sheffield Tribune. A reminder that the internet is still available for the proper reporting of ‘local’ news if you do it right
Shocking article in the Sheffield Tribune. A solicitor, Andrew Milne, buying up freeholds of houses and then making (false) threats to the leaseholders to bully them into buying the freehold at a huge premium.

There will only be more of this if the university is left unchecked.

Join us as we fight back against the short sighted choices of this university. Picket line on monday and 4 more weeks of strikes.

And as far as I am aware that has not yet happened. Whether a higher education institution can be a proper university without these subjects ...I don't think so.
It is vital that such drastic changes - which go to heart of the nature of the university - are properly costed & justified in terms of meaningful, concrete data. And that evidence must be shared if confidence - and accountability - are to be ensured

You know it's a pretty bad decision when the response from people is to create about 100 different petitions...

Sign every one. Let's fight this by all means necessary.
Although I am inevitably caught up in the likely dire implications for my department (Music), it isn’t just us in the Faculty of Arts or in the university under threat.

Do consider signing this petition in support of colleagues teaching Theology!
