The 21 Group campaigns against the complaisant acceptance of bullying by UK Universities. We provide support for those experiencing bullying in academia.
Lecturers, technicians & support staff are expendable, while vice-chancellors & senior teams enjoy outsized salaries

Strathclyde Uni say it's “reshaping finances". No

It's protecting executive pay at expense of academic community & quality of education

The email was marked STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL & sent to many incorrect recipients" 😉

Students mistreated by their University should contact their MPs

There is backbench debate on statutory duty of care on 13 January 2026

Let's leave MPs in no doubt as to the failure of universities to safeguard staff & students

Bullying has a human cost, but UK universities aren't interested in this

Conservative estimates suggest £millions are spent each year on mismanaged cases

This wastes public money

In times of scarcity, increased scrutiny of financial mismanagement will finally drive change

A UK university has addressed a staff complaint on senior misconduct by gagging complainant & prohibiting communication with large sections of university community

This is a violation of freedom of speech

Matter has been referred to MPs and Office for Students

Defenders of high Vice Chancellor pay say it’s irrelevant to the poor state of university finances

At Cambridge University, senior management pay rose from £7m to £32m in 5 years. It's not only the VC whose pay has soared!

This is a surge comparable to university’s annual deficit

Which university goes bankrupt first?

Those in Wales and Scotland are already critically exposed, and pretending otherwise is dishonest

With elections to the Senedd and Scottish Parliament in 2026, this crisis must be forced into the open and owned politically

UK University sector has just endured one of the most damaging years in its history

There are clear signs that situation will deteriorate further rather than stabilise

Which will be the first University to go bankrupt?

Who'll be the first Vice Chancellor to go to prison?

Universities prudently entrust access to senior office to the present leadership, who -- with commendable diligence -- sit on every senior appointments committee

Applicants burdened by independent thought, or tempted by collective responsibility, are gently but firmly turned away 😉
