We hadn't seen any swans in our area since they culled the Mutes from Stanley Park in 2016, but an immature Trumpeter happened to stop in to say "hi" at Burnaby Lake a year ago! #birds #photography #ECK

One of each . Trumpeter Swans are endangered here partly due to the introduction of the Mute Swans , which is why they're tagged . They compete for territory and food . Sound like trumpets . And a Wilsons Snipe just for the hack of it .

I have had exactly one encounter with wild swans. In 2018 a wayward pair of Mute Swans somehow got turned around and found themselves in southern New Brunswick for a few days. I found them on a beautiful morning.
