I've never seen this before and found it quite charming and technically impressive. Plus, David Bowie does the intro!

Recently saw an exhibition of Jack Kirby’s art at the Skirball. It was very inspiring. If you’re in LA check it out.
Today is the 85th anniversary of Captain America! December 20, 1940, was the publication date of Captain America Comics #1. Created by Joe Simon & Jack Kirby.

I would definitely write by hand if my god-awful handwriting was decipherable to me for more than five minutes after I'm done scribbling.
And people who claim to know about neurological processes or whatever will READILY ADMIT that writing by hand engages a different part of your brain than typing (or not using it at all, writing prompts) and STILL never pick up a pen or notebook because of "optimization."

I'm currently handwriting a story because the sheer amount that it slows me down has led to some major "OOOH WAIT, WHAT IF" moments as I go.

Whereas when I type, (my wpm tops out at 120) I'm running up to the extent of my brainstorming and at risk of a block.

It's possible to create too fast.

Also just tapping the sign again — A.I. eliminates the opportunity for creative discovery on your way to the destination you *thought* you wanted. You’re making art, process is everything.
placeholder art is supposed to look like this. you're supposed to make it in 5 seconds.

it's a crucial part of the process because a placeholder will often be remarkably similar to the final art/text, because you were unburdened by bigger details when you made it.

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

This happens relatively early in the film. Her singing is definitely unconventional, but by the time this song was over I was in love with Ida Lupino.
#NoirvemberChallenge
Favorite musical performance in a #FilmNoir ~ IDA LUPINO has a very unique style playing piano and singing One for My Baby (And One More for the Road) in ROAD HOUSE (1948)

After Ida sings, Celeste Holm says
"She does more without a voice than anybody I've ever heard"

This movie is BAM right out of the gate with a dynamite sequence featuring Cloris Leachman. But the bonkers ending defies words. ALSO: Special features on the disk are interesting. Apparently screenwriter A.I. Bezzerides and source material author Mickey Spillane weren't fond of one another.
