The idea of trading some delay for splitting off the DHS bill was OK, but 2 weeks (+ the couple days before the deadline when it was agreed to) is politically forever.
We'll see what happens, protests are still massive, but the vibe does seem lower now.
It may now be that their moment has passed and the public has moved on. If so, what a shame; what a lost opportunity.
