Mm hm. No mention of the sexism Franklin was constantly forced to endure in this cosy little, “they were all respectful colleagues, actually” article.

If you believe either that Franklin discovered the double helix, and / or Watson and Crick stole her data, ask yourself how you know this. Then take a read of this article.

Apart from anything else, we're led to believe his dad - the finance director of a large company - took him to the away end at Villa Park and despite being no more than eight years old (born 1982), he had an understanding of the chants, the gestures & how the games were policed.
Righto, Bob.
Jenrick casting 1980s British football hooliganism as something that was easily dealt with by police and not an era defining issue which we're still living with the consequences of today... He's genuinely the most unserious person in British politics rn

The BBC are accidentally running the subtitles to Mrs Marple over the Mercury Prize, and it’s rather wonderful. A few of lines could plausibly have been written by Jarvis.

Who could have predicted that this would not produce overwhelmingly positive consequences?
The absolute bloody vandalism of austerity in one chart. Good analysis of the overall picture here.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Hi! I borrowed $300m from the worst people in the world to buy your favourite thing! Now your favourite thing owes me $300m and sadly it looks like it can’t pay me back so I’ve taken it out back and shot it. Anyways, just wanted to ask… what’s your *second* favourite thing?
