Garcia, up again, ends by holding up a photo of Stephen Miller and says:

"There is probably no single person who has done more damage and more harm to people across this country...than this man right here. It's our job...to hold him responsible for the crimes that are happening to U.S. citizens."

I have confirmed the gist of this report out of federal court in Minnesota today from a source familiar.

If you have more information about the District of Minnesota—either the court or the U.S. Attorney's Office—and how they are handling all of this, please reach out. I am at crg.32 on Signal.

happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

From FB regarding Pizza Luce in Minnesota.

I like it when I can do something to help people displaced by ICE and then after I do that thing I get to eat a pizza.

so having been on the ground for the Hong Kong protests (lucky me, always finding myself at the center of international news stories), one of the things that struck me about it was how violent the rhetoric often was, yet how that didn’t seem to translate to much actual violence

Not ICE, but CBP.

ICE is terrible, but CBP is orders of magnitude worse. In many ways, abolishing or radically overhauling CBP is of greater urgency than ICE, but likely tougher to do.

One can argue that ~all of ICE's duties can be reallocated. Harder to say that with CBP.
BREAKING: The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.

one of the weirder things about being at the center of a big news story is being belligerently told that you are wrong about things you are personally involved with by people who clearly have no actual understanding of what’s going on and are operating on conjecture

me trying to resist the urge to explain for the umpteenth time how rapid response in the Twin Cities works to people who greatly overestimate their own understanding

not me making a joke about republicans shitting themselves over the Texas state senate special and then waking up and finding out that Donald Trump actually did shit himself (not over the election, but still)

Immigration sweep brings overcrowded rooms and overflowing toilets. Lawyers say they can’t visit their clients. The Department of Homeland Security says “all detainees receive full due process.”

The fact that both are quite experienced—8 years and 12 years with CBP—is yet more evidence that CBP should be abolished and all of its agents fired. There's no way to "reform" or "retrain" that, it's just a violent gang with badges.

probably shouldn’t get caught up in more Stancil discourse, but I do have to say it’s a bit weird encountering people who don’t realize that Stancil’s attitude towards opsec is *already* effectively the operational norm

pro tip: instead of being scared of DHS, just put yourself in a repeated cycle of feeling like you aren’t doing enough -> doing to much and risking burning yourself out. you’ll be too exhausted to be scared. trust

Lawyers can't reach clients in ICE detention. I've heard it anecdotally, but scale of issue is horrifying.

Glad that the local cops intervened in the illegal arrest of a MN observer, but buried in this article is that the police chief did it because he’s longtime friends with the woman’s husband.

Eg, this is about “privileged exceptions,” not a major police shift toward resisting ICE’s horrors.

can’t overemphasize how much ICE/CBP drive like assholes. hearing reports of one doing a crazy u-turn and smashing into a civilian car. this appears to have prompted multiple other ICE vehicles + law enforcement + a DHS helicopter to arrive in the area

they’re right that this was effectively a huge boost to Don Lemon lol. too bad you haven’t consolidated power enough to pull that off, bozos
interesting thing to note is the most authoritarian among them are already self negotiating. they know how bad this looks, so their selling the only way this isn’t a massive failure for them is if they bring in a far right one party authoritarian state into full effect
