Progressive Baptist Pastor (No, that's not an oxymoron.)
A lot of scary things are happening, and we're bombarded with content designed to make us afraid and/or anxious. This week I reflected on Psalm 46, the holy defiance of refusing to live in fear, and some lessons I learned from friends I made in Palestine.

At my church, we periodically do a sermon series in which we ask people to name secular songs that touch their souls, and we attempt to preach sermons on themes we find in them. Here's my take on Pancho & Lefty and Jacob & Esau. robinbolenanderson.medium.com/its-about-ki...

Every activated Guardsman has a family, a job, school, or something that they are leaving to do their duty.

It’s one thing when it’s a war… or a real mass civil disturbance, which those only last a few days.

But to rip these people from their lives for a show… is awful.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Good morning, beloved.

Doing good isn’t always easy or popular, but it is always right.

Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

To all the moms out there desperately gripping the car door handle while teaching your teen to drive. Keep holding on. Soon enough, they'll have their license, and, for a few glorious weeks, they'll ask, "Mom, do you need anything from the grocery store? I'll go get it."

Cal-Maine, the biggest egg producer, has been accused of using bird flu as cover to jack up prices and triple its profits from a year ago.

It also received $22M in federal aid.

While you're getting gouged at the grocery store, your tax dollars are subsidizing corporate greed.

Significant that Trump called Bezos to complain about Amazon *showing* the increased costs because of tariffs, not to complain about Amazon lying to customers about the effects of tariffs.

Trump knows tariffs increase costs. So he lies about them to the public. But not to billionaires bribing him.

You know how during the Olympics the meme goes around about putting one normal person in for contrast? May I present the opposite: Olympic gold medalist and sprinter legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce versus a bunch of other parents at her kids' school.
Shelly-Ann racing in her kid's Parents Day race at the school is the funniest thing I've seen all week LMAO

A corrupt, authoritarian government seizes an innocent man, tortures and jails him on trumped-up charges that change during a manipulated "legal" process. The prisoner is left at the mercy of dehumanizing politicians & jailers to do with what they please.

Holy Week then. America now.

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.

Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?

Booker is on track to erase and replace a historical record (from segregationist Storm Thurmond) at a time when we have an administration trying to erase the real history of this country. Lots of things matter. Symbols among them.

Okay now Sens. Cory Booker and Chris Coons (a Yale Divinity School grad) are literally just having a lengthy discussion of scripture and the Bible on the Senate floor right now.

Religious left: still a thing.
