Finally worked out why I keep seeing mentions of HR that don't sound like they're talking about workplace relations -_-

Much ink has been spilled to the effect of "trans girl spinny skirt cringe" but I don't think people realize how demandingly rigid the rituals of forced masculinity are. I was screamed at for wearing the "wrong colored" shoes. Let trans women be girls, most were not allowed to be.
One of the great things about being a trans woman is giving yourself permission to finally like cute things that weren't "socially acceptable" to enjoy before.

[Not that this is the way things SHOULD be. Just finding small joy where I can.]

People need to stop misusing, misappropriating or distorting the principle of cultural safety.

SA Premier obviously has no idea what this model of care is, and has been weaponising it. Re AWW: reporters need to stop being stenographers. Ask him flat out what he thinks that term means - I dare you.

My "What You Need To Know About Tear Gas" thread:

First, tear gas is a particulate, not an actual vapor or gas. In some cases, this means you can get some of the tear gas off your clothes by standing in a stiff breeze or strong fan.

It’s just extraordinary that the Australian government is still approving new fossil fuel projects. We are deep into a terrifying climate crisis and they need to start acting like it.

I was first unsettled, then increasingly furious at the New York Times' coverage of the death of Lia Smith. Here's a thread sharing some trily despicable choices made by @julietmacur.bsky.social in writing about this young woman's suicide.

Got a slightly better picture of one of the skinks that's been wandering around the fernery outside my window the last few days. Still kind of hard to see but it's the squiggly brown thing on top of the rock in the centre of the photo, just a little camouflaged against the dead fronds.

Renee Nicole Good 💔

The cruelty of this US regime knows no bounds. My heart is broken for Renee, for the unimaginable pain of her family, and for every victim of these horrors, both domestic and overseas.
NEWS: In a heartbreaking video, after ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, a woman who was in the same SUV cries out: “They killed my wife. I don’t know what to do."

“We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head,” the distraught woman sobs.

My overall Dorley take: This is seriously good shit. For all the absurdity sometimes it gets extremely real, and when it does it can hit very hard. This is both a warning and a commendation. This is a story I'll be carrying with me for a long time.

I started reading Dorley like a month ago I think, caught up as of last night. At a bit of a loss for what to do with myself today following a bit of a sleepless night thanks to that very confronting most recent chapter.
