Alright that "ICE OUT" training from last night immediately came in handy (this is not a scary story).

Tonight at Teen Art Club one of the teens asked the others what their biggest fears were. One of the girls said "Is it bad if I say ICE?". I was like "No that's a totally understandable fear"

Aside from the pay and benefits as mentioned a lot of them likely think they can become “white enough” if they serve the white supremacist state

It's Monday here & Nazis are running wild... crazy man, just insane shit right here. So I figured we could all use an Andinobates cassidyhornae I painted of the Holotype. Discovered in 2010, I went to Colombia in 2011 to verify it was unknown & co-authored it's description as a sp. nov. in 2013. 🐸

Is this a captive animal that was captive bred? I know that some populations of American black bear display a similar phenotype and it may partially be due to genetic isolation although idk if that was confirmed or refuted

Update: In the past week we've learned ICE has secured property to build human warehouses in Merrimack, NH and Williamsport, MD *as well as* Surprise, AZ; Upper Bern, PA; and Tremont, PA.

Facts that bear repeating.

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

Remember the incident where DHS claimed officers shot a guy because he attacked them with a snow shovel?

Yeah. It didn't happen. They shot him through the door of his own home. And then arrested him. And then lied about it. Again.

And they almost shot some kids in the process.
They just blindly shot through the fucking door.

"Additional photographs show damage consistent with a bullet fragment lodged in a bedroom wall down the hallway — suggesting it traveled between a mattress and a portable crib in a room where several small children sleep."
"Photographic evidence from the shooting scene of a Venezuelan man by federal agents last month in Minneapolis supports the account of witnesses there – and appears to undercut the narrative provided by federal officials." www.startribune.com/ice-raids-mi...

I never got to see Gomek when he was alive but I did see a replica, which travels museum circuits. It was extremely impressive, though. This was the largest crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) alive in captivity before he passed in 1997. Before that he was top predator in New Guinea

I’d say petty infighting and territorial behavior is often a part of the human condition so of course it will find its way into activism but your observation about social media is key, even more importantly activists pre-internet knew the importance of presenting a united front to the public.

This also applies to just about every science and most forms of academia that I can think of.

Of course the worst people in the world influence paleontology (and many other sciences).

Do you know how many fossil halls are named after the Koch brothers? With museums shrugging “Well where else are we going to get the money?”

The woke scolds are trying to make this about racism. But Musk is right. It's about historical and scientific integrity. When the God of Thunder disguises himself as a swan to seduce and fuck a queen and the resulting baby hatches from an egg, *of course* the baby will be white. It's just science.

People who may want to have children in the future should bear this in mind: tear gas can have serious consequences for female reproductive health. The data on this isn't great but I would at least recommend ensuring you have a quality respirator or mask on at all times.
