Just a reminder this list is drawn from a piece written by four researchers for MICROSOFT (data scientists, CS people, economists) who have never stepped foot in an archive/never taken an oral history/studied material culture, by their CVs.
Unlike them, I do my research, and don't talk out my ass.

If I could get all of us, self included (although I try very hard), to use “she” to refer to media voter, typical blue collar worker etc, I would be happy. Just a little shift in our perspective
Your regular reminder that the median voter works in the non-tradable services sector, experiences trade <only> as a consumer, & the illegal, stupid tariffs do nothing but make her poorer by raising prices on everything she buys at Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, & everywhere else.
Gift link. This "deal" gets portrayed as a win for Trump, but what do most Americans get from it? Just a 15% tax on cars / electronics / etc from Japan?

There's gifts in there for Boeing, rice exporters, and LNG producers, but so what? All I get is a tax. I bet that's true for >99% of Americans.

CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery.

America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.

Watch and share his message.

I need help. I really need to finish this book.

I have 42,000ish words. My biggest issue outside of time is that I need to work through 1000s of pages of archival photos and PDFs. I did it when I wrote the diss, but I feel like I had more mental bandwidth or something? and no job.

Listen. The only way you can become a good writer is by being a shitty writer and doing it anyways. You can’t magically become a good writer by having a machine do some of the work for you. That just makes you a fraud.

My book cover art. Made by yours truly.
It began as a map of memory and morphed into this.
I like it.

The attempt to cripple @npr.org + @pbs.org isn't an attack on "leftist media", but an assault on diligent + balanced news gathering + delivery, as opposed to the hyperbole + polemic driven corporate that treats public discourse as for-profit entertainment. A big blow to civil society if it succeeds.

The White House recently directed the termination of thousands of grants from federal agencies that serve the history field, including NEH, IMLS, and NPS. We are asking history orgs that received cancellation letters and emails to send us copies of these notices. Read more at tinyurl.com/479x3r2f.
