Over 160 million people are under winter hazards associated with the impending major winter storm. Disruptive snowfall is likely from the Rockies to the Northeast, including dangerous ice from the ArkLaTex to the Mid-Atlantic. You can find a detailed forecast at weather.gov.

Here's the latest...

Spouse buys me wool socks. He has had an REI membership since his teens.

My family are boaters. Spouse’s family are campers.

This seems to be common among couples—accidentally marrying a different but complementary skill set.

Not strictly necessary in a modern era, but our instincts persist.

Bad actors don’t know what true strength is.

Spouse and I have had an unusually high number of very bad things happen in 30 years.

But Spouse—he never gives up. He might stall, but he doesn’t stop.

Just for today: all we have to do is not give up, okay?

Onward.

Laughing so hard I’m crying.
This wheel is to the boy squirrel the way that the football is to Charlie Brown and it still makes me laugh every time he tries to use it only to be immediately spun.

A very good boy doing his best.
This is Kevin. He's a reactive dog getting some training to be more comfortable. His trainer brought him to a pet store for some socialization where they learned he is no longer reactive when given a giant stuffed dinosaur. 14/10 (TT: katieandtatesfostermates)

Research shows that ICE Watch works and why it does.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

Here ya go.

Buncha good folks watching out for their neighbors.
should I post the full 8 minute video of a bunch of commuters, observers, and one insane e-biker running an ice convoy clear out of uptown, or is that excessive

This morning, I was thinking about Martin Luther King Jr.’s statement about how hate can’t drive out hate, only love can.

Thinking I should post about the love and light that’s working to drive out hate and darkness instead of just reposting the scary stuff we all already know about.
Yeah?

Library Tale: Twice this week folks said they hadn’t gone to a library in years, but had come in now because they felt the need for community “with everything going on right now.”

When the world leaves you weary, come visit. We have fun programs and lots of stuff. All free. Everyone is welcome. ☮️

A little hope, a little love, from a little person. 🥹
A buddy in MN shared a drawing a classmate of his kid made. They've been making thank you notes for parents who have volunteered to carpool them to school so their own parents don't have to risk waiting out by the bus stop.

One out of 12 rams is uninterested in females. Deemed “non-procreative" by farmers, they're typically sent to slaughter. German farmer Michael Stücke rescues the gay rams. His company Rainbow Wool, sells fabulous wool products from his flock of gay sheep. rainbow-wool.com

Library Tale: Mom thought her 2 year old was asleep…he quietly, thoroughly tore pages into small pieces.

We were impressed at his motor skills and his work ethic. This is just him figuring things out.

Mom was horrified and replaced the book. They’re switching back to board books for a while.

Philly being Philly.💛💚🩷❤️💙💜
This is stunning. Listen to this in Philadelphia.

Thousands singing “Hey-Oh, we won’t be silent while our friends are gunned down.”

Really listen to it.

🚫🧊 Drivers hit horns & waved nonstop for 90 minutes 🔈

I especially loved when big rigs hit their airhorns & the drivers grinned or waved. 📢

Shoutout to the rig with a beagle: doggo thought we were his own personal fan club which, okay, we were. ♥️🚛🐶

A good day, #delaware
Went to North Wilmington Delaware today to deliver whistles. I am so proud of you all! Over 600 people showed up to a last-minute protest! I gave out 155 ICE whistle kits in less than 10 minutes

*I should have brought more!

George, at The Entrance of the Portal to the Great Below.

(It is a laundry chute. It goes to the basement. It has a small wooden door with a ceramic knob.)

(When you open the door, a cat will often jump onto the ledge and gaze longingly into the darkness.)

#UglyDogs. The Electoral votes were to be counted, 45 was denying election results, and right wing groups were in DC. So I kept my phone on the bird site that day, waiting. It began to buzz incessantly. I picked it up saw this. Then we all watched it happen in real time. And here we are.

Spouse and I watched Fackham Hall today. The first half was sly, slightly unhinged, and very funny; the second half was okay, something was a little off. Still, one of those movies you could watch a dozen time and still not catch all the little visual jokes or clever asides.

When I posted this, I thought Oh I’m being dramatic. I challenged myself to not delete it, to sit with it.

Decided today: yes, four times I was hurt and yes, it’s valid, and yes, it’s gonna take a while. So be it.

Am deeply grateful to my two best friends and my daughter. 🧡💛❤️🩷
Four stabs🗡️ to my heart in four days.

So the heart is a little stabbed up, but it’s beating.

I can feel it beneath the palm of my hand.

Sad and angry at the same time

It’s still beating, I’m still here.

Onward we go together, stabbed up, but no longer bleeding.
