This is a small snow plow for sidewalks

If your city plows the roads but leaves sidewalks up to property owners, your city hates pedestrians.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

My most shameful/toxic trait is that I continue to read every book that Dan Brown puts out. I just put “The Secret of Secrets” on hold at the library. For the last 10+ years I revisit this brilliant piece as I add the new book on Libby onehundredpages.wordpress.com/2013/06/12/d...
Don’t make fun of renowned Dan Brown
Renowned author Dan Brown woke up in his luxurious four-poster bed in his expensive $10 million house – and immediately he felt angry. Most people would have thought that the 48-year-old man had no…

If I were running in next year's midterms, I'd be saying: Aussies are getting free electricity, and we're getting huge price spikes.

Because they built solar, and Trump is blocking it.

Free Electricity. Like, at no cost. For everyone. Now.
Let's talk about affordability, abundance, and Australia--and why thanks to Trump we can't have nice things

I’m asking everyone to vote for a new Mayor by Tuesday and rank all 3 of Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis, and Jazz Hampton in whichever order you prefer. I’ve worked at City Hall for the last 4 years and from my personal experiences I believe the City desperately needs a new mayor.

this has to be coupled with the things that *don’t* count as a scandal: an array of harassment allegations, covering up Covid deaths, staying in a race after losing the primary, etc.
i cannot believe that “mamdani calls a close adult relative an ‘aunt’ even if they are not literally their parent’s sister” is what counts as a “scandal” these days

Reminder that Zohran Mamdani is the front-runner in no small part due to NYC municipal public financing. Public financing is something Democrats support, like public sector & service-worker unions, but not really, if you’re a certain type of Minneapolis Democrat.
Regarding the eye-popping fundraising for Team Frey and his team of Minneapolis candidates. One factor that can keep good people from running is the consideration: can I bug my network and fundraise a competitive total? Toll of running for local office already pretty high. Now getting higher.
Elizabeth Shaffer has more than doubled the fundraising of Katie Cashman in Ward 7. $248k to $119k.

Analysis: The lesson conservative lakes area DFLers learned from the Scott Graham debacle wasn't to find a better council candidate, it was to dump more money on it.

worth applying to politics as well. when you're criticizing an action people take "taking the better action next time" is only one of the alternatives people will consider, and worth remembering that "not bothering at all" is another.
I think about this a lot.
