It’s a toss-up between Michael Portillo slightly stepping on my foot, the time I had to say “Sorry, can I just…” to Nigel Havers in order to reach past him for a sandwich in M&S Simply Food, and when I bumped into a man at the station before realising it was Peter Mandelson

I love my mother dearly but the ubiquity of smart phones has been the worst thing that ever happened to our relationship. I spend 90% of my time with her troubleshooting the thing for her and she spends 90% of her time with me scrolling 15-sec bursts of banal Facebook reels at full fucking volume
