Wow! Great thread Niall, delivered as I’m looking at SOTU. How will Pearse’s “blood sacrifice” be made to allow for birth? If the English govt hadn’t executed the “rebels”, against advice how would things have gone? Sadly I have only g/grandparents in this, tho 1 was Fenian.

Excellent thread, but this post is why I think Miller, Bovino and others around Trump might pursue violent confrontation, perhaps against a Dem-controlled Congress, even if I also reckon it would end in fiasco for MAGA.

The Trump administration is dangerously blinded by ideological delusions
MAGA ideology is fundamentally, unavoidably invested in the notion that if the shackles of 'woke' and the 'leftist cultural apparatus' ('the cathedral') are thrown off, the 'authentic,' many and powerful MAGA majority will emerge - and so they seek the clarifying spasm of violence to produce that.

Well said. And if the federal laws won't do this, the states, which grant corporate status, can and should.

👏😂 People want to join the EU. Nobody wants to join China or US.

Boris knew Biden was anti-Putin, so hard not to take a hard line. Easy for Boris to cosplay Churchill when he had the rest of Europe and USA at his back. Would also help him resolve some of his issues with Russian influence in the Tory party, ties to Lebedev.
I think the most damning thing you can say is he is handling this significantly worse than Boris handled the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and that didn’t save him either

I've noticed a sharp increase of these anti-Harris posts lately. They all refuse to accept that by not voting that they are part of the problem. I mean voting for president is once ever four years, just do it. Voting to prevent the worse candidate is just as important, we are seeing why right now.

This should be picked up. Trump’s pardons are costing US victims of crime around a billion dollars in lost restitution payments, never mind how many millions Trump is making from them in “donations” from applicants.

Paul Nonce rips up Royal Society Code of Conduct.
"I think it is naive, frankly, to say that we should get rid of him because he’s a bad person," the new UK Royal Society president says of Elon Musk's membership.

The society would have expelled Isaac Newton if it made judgments on character & behaviour, Paul Nurse says.

So, UK government could be charged with downloading CSAM based on its use of twitter? I do hope someone asks about this at PMQ’s or any time a minister is being interviewed.
Not even the prompts. If you are a Twitter user in the UK and Twitter sticks a Grok CSAM image in your feed for WHATEVER reason, well congrats your device just downloaded child porn. And you are legally responsible for that.
Even if nobody wants to take action against Musk for building a CSAM generator, there are people using it who are based in the UK and those prompts are absolutely something that would get you on the sex offender's register. Absolutely no justification not to try to identify and prosecute users.

I am not an expert is international diplomacy, by any stretch, but the current argument sweeping Bsky, that "the UK gov't must demonstrate it recognises just how aggressive, dangerous, and unpredictable Trump's US has become, by poking Trump publicly in the eye" is not entirely rational.

Angie Wong is very open about the motivation. America first and always. If you’re not working with us, we’ll hit you.
If you want a sense of how MAGAworld sees the motivations behind Venezuela and what might be next, my full interview with Angie Wong might help. Must confess, parts left me pretty stunned.

I think what China understood and the rest of the world has been slow to do is that Trump is running a protection racket more than a trade or foreign policy.

He wants the payoffs more than the invasion or regime change.

So you would prefer what?

We sever all ties to the US?
Call Trump an arsehole?
Threaten to invade them?

How do you imagine that would go? Would the economic, defence & international consequences be Starmer’s fault as well? How do you think that would affect Ukraine?

There’s more to the Epstein Bannon Farage connection than this.

Epstein was actively guiding Bannon how to secretly finance ‘The Movement’ — a right wing pan Europe organisation in concert with Farage — set up by his partner Laure Ferrari

The Trump Justice Department was actively monitoring a journalist investigating Jeffrey Epstein.
