Truly, one of the most successful 20th c. innovations of conservatism was merging elitist contempt for the democratization of higher education that happened after World War II with populist contempt for elitism. Still don’t quite know how they did it, but it’s been the playbook since at least 1951.

In a first for the Ivy League school, Columbia's new officers have the same powers of warrantless search and arrest as any other police officer under New York law. The state law permits the officers to use "physical force and deadly physical force in making an arrest or preventing an escape."
