Feeding America has a page where you can input your zip code and it'll show you all of the food banks near you overlaid on a map. If you need it, it's there. If you don't need it, think about donating money if you have it and your time if you don't.

People continue to call COVID advocates’ pleas for masking “unreasonable”.

Yet people who’ve already been disabled by COVID have no choice but to live with the “unreasonable” burdens of constant COVID safety.

My latest:

Beyond all reason
Long COVID patients are constantly harangued about our requests for COVID safety. Yet what we're asking for is far less than what we're called on to do to survive.

Anyone can go to immigration hearings to bear witness, offer support, and stand up for due process and the rule of law.

We must keep showing up for our immigrant neighbors in whatever way we can.

Always a pleasure talking with Ali Velshi!

We have @littlelobbyists.com families on the way to Washington DC right now, they'll be on the House-side of the Capitol tomorrow. We're going to make them see us before they vote to kill disabled children.

We have enough to worry about these days; let's not add Victorian poisoning problems to the list.

New York might become the next state to pass legislation making us more vulnerable to contagious diseases. It’s in the works right now, so this is the moment to speak up.

I’m so sick of calling to beg for the right to exist in public, but here we are again.

TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, March 26 please urge NY legislators to say NO to any mask restrictions in the NY State Budget.

If you want to help disabled people fight New York's proposed mask ban... wear a mask.

If more people would mask up in solidarity, these important accessibility tools would be harder to ban.

Help us normalize masking and protect your health in the process!

It's great to hear that these musicians who care about accessibility have found each other (and their audience!). I wonder if anyone is doing something similar in NYC? Please let me know about it if you are. www.kqed.org/arts/1397262...

Please read if you think mask bans are no big deal, that innocent people won't be irrevocably harmed.
As more States propose mask bans, I want to take a moment to discuss claims that it’s “fear mongering” to say that masking is illegal.

People claim the medical exemption is “good enough”.

This ignores three critical points. Public perception, anti mask sentiment and rampant ableism

New Yorkers, please call your state reps and ask them to oppose the mask ban. Don't assume it can't happen here. Don't give police the power to judge who has a "legitimate reason" to mask.
Call your State Senator and Assembly Member today to demand they oppose mask bans! We’ve updated our call tool with new talking points to help you make the strongest case possible. Every call makes a difference!

Abled friends: PLEASE wear a mask on public transit and in healthcare settings. Your solidarity (or lack of it) could determine whether we are allowed to exist at all.
Just in case you think that blue states & cities are safe… LA Mayor Bass expressed interest in a mask ban a few month ago & NYC Mayor Adams has said he’s in favour of a ban (as is New York Governor Hochul).

Mask up now and help us normalize them as a public health tool.

Don’t let ugly laws pass:

If I could help non disabled people understand one thing about being disabled, it would be how important maintaining a baseline is.

When you’re chronically ill, your baseline is everything.

Even minor setbacks can be catastrophic, so we have to do a risk analysis before literally ANY activity 🧵

US-based cis women: here are some steps to oppose the transphobia and gender-policing going on now in Washington.
okay, we're starting with this

Step 1. call your own rep if you haven't already!

Step 2. sign this (cis women only please! cis guys, you can help by boosting)

Step 3. much depends on the success and reach of step 2; lots of options if this blows up

After years of being a very casual birdwatcher, I finally got the eBird app this year and started to record my sightings. I don’t get out nearly as much as I would like, but I’ve managed to see 72 species this year, all within a 1.5 mile area of Brooklyn.
