Here is a #GreatKiskadee from October 2023 in the Rio Grande Valley. Loud and energetic fuss made from the topmost branch of a live oak at a Target parking lot. #Ornithology

Wake Up Dead Man is more contemplative than the first two Benoit Blanc movies, which I think is a good switch. Not to say it’s not still compelling as a mystery, with some funny lines, because it is. It does seem Rian Johnson had a bit more to get off his mind this time though. I had a great time.

I’d like to make some more friends who are into comics and graphic novels and are educators and librarians. This circle is small… but powerful.

Amused by this despite also being the more social spouse.
When your spouse is the social one, and decides she doesn't want to go to a social obligation/event because she's tired from her marathon walk, it's important to modulate your response carefully: supportive but not to obviously enthusiastic and relieved

Leftovers!

Re-purposing food is the single best skill you can acquire in your kitchen adventures.

I'm known as a wizard for two reasons. 1) I can turn almost nothing into a delicious meal. 2) I can turn an old dinner into a new & delicious dinner every time.

Let's normalize saying "Bon Hiver" this time of year. We watched the Northern Exposure episode where they say this the other night, and it felt good to think about celebrating — instead of cursing — the winter season. "Bon Hiver" means "Good Winter," which is a lovely sentiment. Whaddya say?

This school board would be hilarious if it wasn't so ridiculous and pitiful.
Hi again! It's me with an another installment of the last book I ever thought would get banned--my picture book about a unicorn and kitty who are pals. A quick look at what this school district bizarrely found objectionable. 1/
You'll never guess what book got the Carroll ISD school library advisory committee to say "genitals" a dozen times in 20 minutes. @txfreedomread.bsky.social will have more on this story soon, but for now, you have to hear this audio. open.substack.com/pub/franklin...
