What a despicable policy - performative cruelty, pure and simple. Completely heartbreaking to see the direction of travel and feel so utterly powerless to stop it. I’m ashamed to share my air with people like this.
This is "mass deportation" being talked about for people here legally, settled into communities, who have done nothing wrong but have simply made the UK their home - our friends, family members, colleagues and neighbours. Utterly vile.

The radical right in Britain increasingly claims to represent "Christian values" & "Christian civilisation" - though its leaders rarely go to church or pretend to believe anything.

It's especially important that Christian leaders speak out against this, as it's their tradition that's being claimed.
A courteous but very impressive rebuke to Nigel Farage from the Bishop of Oxford.

"I heard no compassion in what you said...".

"I disagree profoundly with your attempts to ... increase fear of the stranger in our communities".

Do read.

It’s up to 23k but cis women, surely you can get it higher? Sign and share, please? People who aren’t cis women also consider sharing please? Also, I don’t think you need to be in the UK to sign, just saying.

Wondering why Katie Perry et al are being universally described as “crew” when all they actually did was pay a shed-load of money and then just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Yesterday King Charles was inspecting a British ship.

And YET he did so dressed as King of Canada wearing Canadian military decorations and Canadian honours, inc Order of Canada and Canadian Order of Military Merit.

Charles is sending us and the world a message, a LOUD message.

1/ These Seamus Heaney verses were included in the welcome service for our new bishop. Seems timely:
“History says don’t hope
on this side of the grave.
But then, once in a lifetime, the longed for tidal wave
of justice can rise up.
And hope and history rhyme.”

The world needs to speak NOW, before it happens, to say without ambiguity that to attack this hospital would be to cross a moral line. Under International Humanitarian Law, healthcare must always be protected. There can be no adequate reason to target such a place.

Multiple things can be true at once:

1. Oct 7th was the worst collective trauma Jews have experienced in our lifetimes

2. The war on Gaza is a horror

3. Antisemitism is rising

4. Islamophobia is rising

Those trying to use one of these to cancel others are making things worse
