The conspiracy theorists are all wrong. If this is what my emails sounded like and they were about to be leaked, I would also kill myself.

(Except for "memebrane". That one slaps.)

"skin as part of brain?"

This is that great intellect people talk about?

I don't super care about this person, but people constantly argue for policies that would undeniably cause physical harm to people without bans. (Military action or criminal enforcement are the most obvious.) It's an interesting microcosm about how "legitimate" violence is not seen as violence.

My favorite fantasy is going back in time and jump starting technology. Mostly because it would be funny to explain to some guy in 500 BCE that it's called Algebra after a future mathematician. And he thinks I'm crazy, but I'm the only one who knows how to make guns, so he can't just kick me out.

Along similar lines, it's good to see how many people are rightfully outraged by Trump claiming he can order the assassination of anyone he designates a terrorist.

But how many of them know this was the official policy of the Obama administration as written in a memo by Eric Holder?
How come white Dem voters *do* know that Trump allocated $45 billion dollars for ICE to target immigrants and abuse them with unnecessary arrest quotas...

But *don't* know that Biden allocated $50 billion dollars for cops to target Black people and abuse us with unnecessary arrest quotas?
2024 was the worst year *in history* as far as cops murdering Black men. The worst!

Biden transferred over $50 billion USD from Covid relief to the cops to fund things like Scorpion units to beat Black men to death for no reason.

2020 Biden increased mass incarceration more than 2016 Trump.

At the end of the day, the talking head class finds this unacceptable because this is an example of political violence targeting one of them. Political violence that targets protesters, professors, activists, etc may be an interesting story. But it's only an emergency when it affects them.
When I was placed on the Professor Watchlist in 2021, people sent death threats about my children. I had security officers monitor my 8yo at school.

Where is all the outrage for those of us who have been targeted for years? Where is the outrage for our families?

My own colleagues are silent.

I'm seeing a resurgence of Reddit atheism debates and so I want to say the phrase "burden of proof" should be prohibited outside legal contexts. Evidence is something you provide because you want to persuade. You can't replace it by claiming someone else has the burden of proof.

We're not going to persuade conservatives. That's simply not going to happen. That's why the pro-Palestine movement has been focusing on more realistic goals, like persuading liberals and private companies.

the american jewish establishment has made it transparently clear that you can hate jews and wish for jesus to come back and convert and kill us all, so long as you’re pro-israel. conversely, it doesn’t matter if you’re an observant jew—if you’re anti-israel you’re as good as david duke to them.
The accusations of antisemitism against Mamdani are flaccid and transparent AND I also want to point out that the Normative American Politician, particularly the evangelical Christian politician, is baseline pretty fucking antisemitic and very few people bat an eye about that

Well, I asked the High Priest to consult the Urim and Thummim on his breastplate to divine the will of the Holy One but they stopped giving answers after King David’s reign so I had to go use actual research skills instead to get the answers I needed.

Did another check in and not only still permanently furious but now also posting a bit about the dangers of "low IQ immigration". Oh dear!
Thought I'd check in at the end of the month to see if maybe it just took some time to sink in. Nope! Still furious!
Out of a kind of morbid curiosity I just checked the twitter feed of an outspoken conservative philosopher who is very invested in culture war. (I've no desire to send people at him so please don't name.) In line with this prediction he's posting as if nothings changed, still seething all the time.

I feel like this is a good moment to remind everybody that Gavin Newsome got into politics because a building inspector wanted him to install a mop sink in his wine bar. I don't think that guy knew he was setting California on a path to secession.

Let's not forget it was the mainstream press that gave Wakefield the audience he needed to spread his autism vaccine fraud. It's not that surprising to see them doing it again.
I will never understand why the media feels the need to whitewash RFK Jr constantly.

Option 2: The larger button is larger because it represents more water being used.

I can never decide and I hate it.

Judge Nathan: So I guess you could say that it's uncontested (that Öztürk's op-ed was protected speech)

Ensign/DOJ: Uhhhhhh

Judge Carney: Maybe more like it's neither contested nor conceded

I have failed my family.
the root of all other crises is the "loser older brother" crisis. young men are lonely because they don't have a loser older brother with nothing better to do than hang out. conspiracy theories abound because there's no loser older brother to inoculate you against them when you're buying an eighth
