I was born in the wrong century. I bet in like the 2300s I could be a housewife who does math for fun. RETVRN to the future.

She's right. There is no place for anti-Na'vi racism.
Y’all. It’s wrong to call someone the “c word.”

On the issue of "if it's irrelevant, why write it?" AIUI, judges are basically kings in their courtrooms. They get to say whatever they want. And so they often do. Some get so used to it they also start writing whatever they want.

So yeah, he was probably venting.
Striking nativist editorializing by the federal judge who just upheld the $100,000 tax on high-skill immigrants.

She opines that it’s “troubling” that universities hire talent from abroad at all, instead of only native grads.

Then admits (!) that opinion is irrelevant (So why write it? Venting?)

I love that this guy basically said "I may be stupid and evil, but I have a license to drive big boats, so there!"
“We’ve forgotten that we didn’t build the early navy for pride, which is why I want battleships to make little boys proud.”

This dude clearly has some mental health issues around his childhood that he’s working out.

That whole space marine chapter is getting purged by the inquisition.
there is a planet full of NATIVES. the natives live in harmony with NATURE. they are sitting on a RESOURCE DEPOSIT. there are literal SPACE MARINES who want the RESOURCES. the HERO who is a SPACE MARINE has to learn to be in harmony with NATURE and help the NATIVES defend the RESOURCE DEPOSIT

I don't buy that she "really screwed up".

The documentary did not air.

CBS still owns the rights so nobody can legally show it.

The people watching the pirated copies already knew CECOT is a torture camp.

A revolt at 60 minutes is an opportunity for her to purge people.
NYT shows how Bari Weiss really screwed this up.

She didn't attend any of the 5 screenings of the story, which began on Dec. 12.

She only first weighed in on Thursday, and the show incorporated her suggestions.

She then waited until weekend to ask for more edits.

I don't think it's a change. The fact that they want to brag about their cruelty does not mean they welcome people turning a critical eye towards it.
Worth noting, I guess, that inside of a year we've gone from administration officials taking selfies of themselves at CECOT and bragging about how it's hell on earth to now getting their horrible little media worms to kill stories about it

A lot of the AI discourse is very silly. LLMs can obviously be used productively. People do it. Maybe that won't be economically viable when hype-chasing investors stop subsidizing its use, but we have to retire criticism that has been shown false.
"LLMs can't do anything" is a fringe dead-ender position in a world where people are already using LLMs for everything from home decor suggestions to writing wedding vows.

"LLMs can't produce novel insights" is an argument for a hypothetical world where the average person needs many novel insights.

Basically pleasant bureaucrats posting their Ls.
...That basically amounts to exactly the social work that going on dates entails anyway. Maybe there's some blessed few guys out there for whom random baddies are throwing themselves at them, but for me I'd genuinely think crime the more likely hypothesis than this, and I find it weird others don't!

Never forget Newsom got into politics because he got mad when a city inspector told him to install a mop sink in his wine bar. A petulant child with no principles.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

Also, the 9/11 attacks did not cause a rise in islamophobia. The Russian invasion of Ukraine did not cause a rise in russophobia. Pearl Harbor did not cause a rise in anti-Japanese racism. Evil is always an uncaused cause and all who disagree seek to legitimize evil.

I for one am glad that somebody is alert to what will happen when 5 year olds ask their plushies to weigh in on geopolitical issues. We can't let the sneaky Chinese propagandize to our toddlers when they inevitably ask about the status of the Senkaku Islands.
That Miiloo, from a Shenzen company, was maybe the most interesting one to me. It's one of the cheaper options and a top hit on Amazon when you search for "AI toys." It's mostly heavily moderated but really draws the line with certain CCP talking points.

I think it's very unfair that if I were to offer this treatment it would be fraud, but other people are allowed to simply because they're too stupid to realize it's bs.

2/ What Adm. Bradley and Gen. Caine told Congress raises credibility concerns.
