I can't decide if these people have never read 1984 or if they have and just think no one else has...

Out of curiosity, if the USA attacks another member of NATO (like trying to invade Greenland, as a totally random example), does that mean Canada would suddenly find itself at war with them? #canpol

My roommate and I have started re-watching Farscape, and I've been re-watching Earth: Final Conflict (one has aged much better than the other, ngl). I had forgotten there was a period of a few years when the opening sequence of sifi shows had a voiceover that gave you the show's elevator pitch. 😆

I have only ever hurt myself in ridiculous ways, so it's hard to pick just one.

One highlight was tripping backward over my vacuum cleaner and giving myself a concussion on the edge of my bathtub.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

If you have someone in your life who likes #watches, #mathematics, #linguistics, or is just the kind of wonderful nerd who would like to own such a thing, please send them to the Kickstarter for the new Dana watch, which I co-designed.

I wonder who came up with the expression "silly goose." Geese in my experience are not so much silly as they are constantly angry and often violent.

Then again, I live in Canada. Are English geese inherently sillier than your average Canada Goose?

Happy New Year, BlueSky friends! 🎉

If a random account likes one of your posts/skeets about 0.1 seconds after you hit "post," that means it's a bot programmed to like posts with specific keywords, right?

I adopted a kitten from Leni Parker (using her not-screen name) in 2014. I couldn't figure out why she looked so familiar until she finally admitted (rather sheepishly) to being in Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict, and I excitedly yelled "OMG YOU'RE DA'AN!" and promptly fangirled at her.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

OMG there are Earth: Final Conflict novel tie-ins! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?!? StoryGraph is AMAZING. 🤣

Just imported my Goodreads data to StoryGraph in my ongoing quest to divorce myself from all things Amazon. I didn't know about it until recently and so far the process has been quite seamless, even though poor StoryGraph is dealing with New Year's traffic volumes.

Well, shit. I don't WANT to be a spaceship captain! I do not need that sort of responsibility!
Well, now I'm an English professor...

Is it the top movie that day, month, or year? Because the top movie for my birthday month was Deep Star Six (which I’ve never heard of), but the top grossing movie of the year was Tim Burton’s Batman. Very different vibes. 😬
I'm not gonna fall for a banana in the tailpipe.

I haven’t watched Stranger Things since Season 3. Maybe I should rewatch and give it another try.

Sometimes not having enough people in my life who've read the early Gordon Korman novels is a real bummer.

I said "Sir, what's a keat?" today about a test for which I'm not allowed to study (most vexing), and no one laughed.

Okay, #romantasy friends! Christmas is coming up and I want to get my roommate some nice monster-fucking smut. This is not a genre I partake in, so I am looking for recs!

She likes heterosexual (ish) pairings, but I could always sneak in some gay shit if it's good.

I feel like most people born after the advent of home video have at least a handful of movies they just watched relentlessly as kids, so I'm not sure what this "hard mode" is.

Anyway.

"Movie you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Star Wars, LoTR or Marvel."

One major downside of my current job is that every rotation includes 7 night shifts in a row, culminating in 2 12-hour shifts over the weekend. Let me tell you, that last shift is brutal.

I do prefer this rotation over previous ones, but I still have 5 hours left in this shift and I am TIRED.

I just discovered today (because I am not very prolific on here and typically have interactions of only 1-3 posts) that if you reply to a popular person, you will get notified for the ENTIRE CONVERSATION that other people have about that thread even when they're just chatting amongst themselves.

I'd drop down to a part-time job (I doubt UBI would be enough to fully cover my mortgage) and focus on my little fam and my writing during my free time.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

Re-post with your quote or drop your take below.

I'm re-watching The Pretender, because apparently what my brain needs is quasi-psychopathic montage sequences of terrible people receiving poetic justice comeuppance in a series of increasingly unlikely scenarios.

Anyway, Andrea Parker is a smokeshow.

@profanity.accountant I don't think I'm especially swear-y, but I could be wrong!
