I wrote about how Trump sees the world: With the brain of a real estate developer that is stuck in 1990 newrepublic.com/article/2052...
Trump’s Obsession With Real Estate Is Fueling a Ruinous Foreign Policy
He venerates ownership and believes in one-on-one dealmaking that results in winners and losers. But what’s good for him personally won’t be good for the country.

If the figures we're getting out of Iran are in the right league, this weekend was, I think, one of the bloodiest state crackdowns of all time. People are talking 12,000-20,000 dead; for comparison Hungary in 1956 was about 2,500, Tiananmen - across country, in multiple cities - probably 1000+

On another note I feel like tennis commentary is missing some technical analysis in favor of vibes now. I miss hearing why someone missed or a pattern didn’t work out.

It’s ridiculous that English football still asks the players and managers to answer for the club as a whole, as if there aren’t directors of football and chairmen who hold great power and are at least equally responsible for the club’s fortunes. They should be meeting with the media regularly too.
can't really read this as anything but Cristian Romero calling out Spurs executives and ownership for leaving the players and the manager as the only people out dealing with the displeasure of fans and media

i think my number one rule with hiring managers is to assume they're not going to change their ideas about how to play football. i'm sure they all say they can change in the interview, but if they haven't coached a suitable style before, assume they can't.
it was like two or three years ago that @graceonfootball.com said about Thomas Frank, if you haven't shown a demonstrated set of ideas for how to use possession to create scoring chances, no matter how solid your record is otherwise, you're a big risk at any richer team

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

Whoosh. That was an insane performance from Eva Lys, who goes from barely being able to win games of Iga to taking her deep to a third. But Iga recovers from a set and 3-1 down, saves a bunch of break points down the stretch to take it 6-4 in the third. Amazing crowd in Sydney. Poland wins the tie.

Stuff on minutes restrictions is interesting. Fairly normal in the NBA, but a typical argument in football where medical departments and managers/coaches clash due to potentially misaligned priorities. Clubs 100% should put power into the medical depts hands on this, and look to enforce
This is the inside story of Enzo Maresca’s exit from Stamford Bridge:

🔹 Recommendations around player minutes were big part of why he wanted to leave
🔹 Wanted new defender in summer
🔹 Concerns over talks with Manchester City

excellent piece by @hkhaliqueloonat.bsky.social on the set pieces which gets at the core of the issue -- we're not seeing more set piece goals on top of a normal amount of open play goals, we're seeing set pieces increasingly dominate a less attacking game
