In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."
The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.
And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".
But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

The thing @schumer.senate.gov appears to be doing where he gets everybody who’s retiring or was just sworn in to a six-year term to vote yes so he and a bunch more moderates can vote “no” to appear more progressive than they are is so insulting lol

Schumer’s resume:
- gets outfoxed by McConnell during two Trump impeachments
- consistently fails to whip the vote when it matters
- folds like a cheap lawn chair under pressure
- thumbs his nose at new progressive candidates
It’s like we brought reading glasses to a gun fight.

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social needs to step the fuck up and start campaigning to oust @schumer.senate.gov and take over as Senate Minority Leader. Now. He’s been the most boldly outspoken, clear-eyed Senator of them all.

I refuse to sell out the millions of Americans who are about to see their health care premiums double or worse.
I’m a HELL NO on any bill that fails to address Republicans’ health care crisis. A pinky promise from a party led by the world’s biggest liar means absolutely nothing.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.
Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.
The American people need more from their leaders.

Democrats, you have fully lost your damn minds. You don't give a damn inch to bullies. Period.
Trump: "We'll never agree to give any substantial money or any money to prisoners, illegals. And I think the Democrats understand that. And it looks like we're getting close to the shutdown ending."

Once a Djerk, forever a Djerk. Djokovic was never going to the #ATPFinals but he forced Lorenzo to play Athens. Now exhausted Musetti limps into Turin. He could’ve rested all week. 😡

This is, unsurprisingly, nonsensical. Is he suggesting eliminating health insurance and giving people a few thousand dollars instead? And then when they get a cancer diagnosis they just go bankrupt?
He is so unserious. That's why we are shut down and Americans know it.
