Martin Luther King Jr. Warned About The Anti-Abolish-ICE Democrat
The heritage that valued order over justice during the civil rights movement animates the Democrat elected and consultant who wants to "retrain" a nativist death squad

Just a reminder that you've never seen a Calvin & Hobbes animated movie or cartoon is because Bill Watterson didn't want to give Hobbes a voice so he could always live inside your head exactly the way you imagined him. And to this day you have no idea who he ever has voted for. But you can guess.

@jeffcannata.bsky.social Taskmaster s19 was excellent. among the best. "what do you think will happen when we graduate" is an all-timer. even when you have no idea who the participants are, the show rarely misses. you can even simply watch youtube clips instead of doing whole episodes/seasons.

One of the best-sketched characters in an incredibly character-rich show: a fascist whose (potentially real!) redeeming qualities are continually undercut by his monumental pride, bigotry, entitlement and pettiness
The most realistic scene in DS9 is when Gul Dukat whined about how the Bajorans never erected a statue in his honor. A prophetic text.

Pointed out by my friend @carloshasanax.bsky.social . There's something weird and unsettling about a fairly homogeneous culture spread out across Europe that then collapses into an orgy of genocide.

The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

It’s still remarkable that Disney produced - and released - this segment in 1940. A horror short that should rank with its Universal monster movie contemporaries… The animation is lush and experimental, and really shows off the Disney special animated effects team…
