having the internet in your pocket 24/7 means the noise is omnipresent. people under 30 barely remember a smartphone-less existence. a lot people over 30 would likely struggle to return to that mode, too.

Dredd, Ex Machina, and Annihilation were a good trifecta, but everything he's directed since then ... ooof

that said, even during it's heydey later on Vertigo wasn't uniform in how it handled ownership. some series were fully creator-owned, some were shared ownership with DC, some were fully DC owned. it wasn't one-size-fits-all.

V for Vendetta predates Vertigo. the deal Moore & the artists signed for it (and Watchmen) were infamously premised on rights reversion a set period of time after the initial serialized issues had gone out of print. however, the collected editions have never (and will never) go out of print.

Why do you think Moore owns the rights to all his most famous comics and can prevent adaptations from being made? He doesn't and can't.

comics are chock-full of villains-turned-hero ... Punisher, Venom, Harley Quinn, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Rogue, Deadpool, Catwoman, Emma Frost, Magneto

Wicked. Maleficent. the T-800 Terminator (Arnold).

and ... Saul/Paul from that most famous work of fiction, of course.

don't know how rewatchable it is as a whole, though. there are some scenes i'd pull out (the two chase scenes, notably).

i enjoyed it quite a bit. solid 4/5. shocked when Amy Madigan's name appeared in the credits. unrecognizable!
