Don't get me wrong I lost a lot of respect for a lot of people in 2024 but the people who I lost the most respect for is The People, and I gotta say, seeing the special election results makes me madder at them

It's a moral failure to reduce women to sex vending machines you put economic status, IQ and kindness coins into, but it's also just really bad mental health advice. It makes your status checks fully external, such that if you are not getting laid you must be mean, dumb, or a loser!

Why do men need an exclusive vision of virtue? Why don’t they want a universal, ungendered ideal of a good life? Why won’t they share in that striving with us?

I was at Target today and a Somali teenager who worked there helped me find the bedding I wanted. Just the most normal teenager. And I thought about the Nazis who think she’s genetic pollution. The only way to save this country is to find every single Nazi SOB and [character limit reached]

What does it say about this country that that the kind of open, rank bigotry Trump administration officials regularly express towards black immigrants apparently has no social cost because of the number of Americans who quietly agree or don't care.

I would rather have a world where we all trust each other and accept that a few people will take advantage of it than a world where folks have to perform disability constantly in order to get the help they need. Let kids have an extra 30 minutes on the test, jesus fucking christ

this is a blasphemy.
Heard the same; this is what I mean by inches from the finish line; scheduled for the final citizenship oath ceremony and now suddenly that date is cancelled and people don't know what will happen next.
Our office has clients caught up in this. Hearing from colleagues nationwide about people having their naturalization oath ceremonies canceled. Some of the affected people aren't even subject to the travel ban due to other acquired citizenship, but they are still being caught up.

Gone completely is the notion that every nation has people of genius, talent, and energy, who can contribute to the American project. Instead, if you’re Muslim, you’re presumptively a terrorist. If you’re Chinese, you’re presumptively a spy. If you’re Mexican, you’re in a cartel. Race trumps all.

maga wants to destroy america. it's what they live for. they hate this country with every drop of their blood
Apparently every Chinese academic in any field of “interest” to the PLA is getting their visa rejected for, more or less, presumptively being a spy. My friend’s visa is denied because she studies “neuroscience.” What she actually studies is jaw pain - but ICE is flatly rejecting all appeals.
Just got the word that the Trump administration is throwing a brilliant medical researcher friend of mine out of the country because they’re Chinese. Insane and unreal. Literally doing research in the US to help the US

Rep. Kat Cammarck: "Today, one in six people in the US is foreign born. That quite frankly is not sustainable to maintain a culture that we are known for here in the United States."

the whole concept of "white genocide" is very funny because unlike a regular genocide where people try to butcher you with machetes or gas your family in white genocide your cousin marries an Indian guy

At some point you just run out of things to say, right? There’s no argument to make. There’s nothing to discuss. The executive branch is saying “We make our own law and obey no one” and either you say “Okay, I guess you do” or you put down the whole administration and salt the earth where it stood
KARL: Did you know about the judge's order when you issued your order for the planes to continue?

KRISTI NOEM: This is an activist judge. We comply with all federal orders that are lawful and binding.

sports at universities should be treated like every other extra-curricular: they get their share of the student activities budget just like the drama club and the movie club. if they want more, hold a bake sale.

While this usually isn't the intent, "no one will ever be held accountable for this" doomerism is an excuse not to try.

There'll be at least some accountability if enough Americans work for it. And this time really is different. Doesn't guarantee the aftermath will be, but it increases the chances.

and you know what? these students should also be judged, and judged harshly for this. running to the admins and state legislators and the press because you got a fairly earned failing grade on an assignment is and should be seen as a mark of extremely poor character. it makes you a very bad person.
the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

this is just rank cowardice, the student very obviously disregarded the instructions and the assignment to antagonize her peers and instructors and provoke this exact reaction, society simply can’t function when the people in charge scurry like kicked dogs every time some troll bully says boo

When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

the thing that indoctrinated fundamentalist students like this simply do not get is that people actually believe things and observe the world, which is a thing they've been taught to never do because it would involve challenging dogma. this is a specific pathology of fundamentalism

Don't fine companies, put CEOs who gave the president obvious bribes in jail.

And so on.

The aim should be for individual, not institutional, accountability.

Did a university obviously violate the first amendment rights of its faculty to suck up to Trump? Don't seek to fine the university, *seek to jail its president and trustees.*

People make decisions, people bear consequences.
