I actually love hearing other languages. There are so many of them and they’re beautiful.

Getting mad about it is a skill issue. And to be clear, that skill is empathy.

Jesus said love your neighbor. So of course the catholic jd Vance response is “okay they won’t be my neighbors”
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do

Ugh okay so I was hopeful and clicked. Big mistake

The problem isn’t with screens in and of themselves. Big glass slabs. Whatever

The problem is that the ubiquity of screens constantly pulls us away from living in the moment

I don’t want a screenless future. I want a distractionless one!

So apparently my 6yo knows the 6-7 intonation. (I did not know this intonation before today)

This whole thread, especially the part where the reasonable videos are the start of the pipeline.

I have mentioned the struggle I am having as I get into freeze drying & pantry organization with the algo always trying to get me on the crunchy -> alt-right pipeline.

But they rarely start crazy!
reposting with alt text because this feels incredibly significant. the right-wing disinfo machine means a lot of the people grieving Charlie Kirk never heard any of the things he said that would have tarnished his brand as Guy Who Just Wants to Have Dialogue Across the Aisle

I have given the 6yo power to put stuff on the shared grocery list. This may be my best or my worst idea ever

After ten years of making this one particular cheesecake in a water bath, I figured out how to keep it from getting soggy (bend the foil over the top rim so it doesn’t condense inside)

This is now my (one, single, twice yearly) superpower. Feels amazing

I taught people board games last night and one of them told me it was a good teach. I’d been intimidated for so long and sort of waiting / hoping someone else will teach.

This is going to unlock so many of those board games I’d have been too shy to get to the table otherwise.

That was sweet customer service. I’d just missed backing Food Truck Race, reached out to the creator to let him know his marketing worked, I was just too slow, but keeping an eye out for when it comes to retail

He reached out personally to send me a preorder link

How could I not? #boardgamesky

I’ve gone from hesitantly playing Minecraft with my daughter only because she wants me to, to spending my whole evening exploring / fishing / mining iron to fill up a chest with goodies for my daughter when she wakes up

The 5yo and I just started playing #minecraft survival. Mistakes have been made

Took four tries and many false starts but finally beat The LOOP solo! Great game, great solo. Just flows from one action to another

Also funny artwork and tongue in cheek humor. Curious how it plays with more people

Only bad thing, think it’s OOP. I got lucky and found a copy randomly at my LGS

New, from me:
The DOGE project was sold as tech disruptors who would revolutionize government. To try to understand why DOGE has failed, I point to lessons that other technologists who worked in government learned, but DOGE ignored. 🧵

In a few short weeks (months?) kiddo has gone from randomly putting cake everywhere to building structures + blowing up rocks with TNT to make gigantic waterfalls

Oh also almost burning down her house in Minecraft

So I slept last night at 1am instead of 12:30 and frankly I am a wreck today.

The one thing I really miss about being a teenager tbh

New avatar 🥰

Started with this drawing my 5yo made of me. Adored the expression. I really wanted to make this my avatar but it wasn’t working as is. So I looked through the promos feed on Bluesky

I think @countslimeula.bsky.social did a fantastic job of capturing the mischievous energy!

I’m not good at this but I just called my senators for the first time to express my support for what they’re doing and to ask them to stand with Cory Booker

Messed up the first one (voicemail) and didn’t leave my zip code. But for the second one a lovely staffer picked up the phone and took my msg
