Shortly before Martínez Lorenzo finished an athlete from Iran finished as well!

Would have been such a great moment to tell her story but the Peacock announcers were like talking about team USA's chances in another event or something.

It's really sad and a disservice to the athletes and audience.
Regina Martínez Lorenzo is the first Mexican woman to compete in Olympics cross-country skiing.

Other racers waited at the finish line to hug her. Brazil’s Bruna Moura, an 3 medalists, Karlsson, Ebba Andersson of Sweden, and Jessie Diggins from the US.

She learned to ski while in med school in MN.
Glad you brought this up - this Mexican is the first and only in this sport, and everyone was impressed by her determination - the USA gold medalists were so sweet, she removed her skis and hugged her dearly. The MSNBC cut out all of it. Why? That's the best of the #Olympics! empathy and love.

Few days behind, but anyone interested in competition should watch the women's 10K free XC ski from the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics.

Jessie Diggins is incredible!

Note: I should have added "at worst" to the line about the fishermen. We don't know how many were actually even doing that.

Also, as with the brazen, wildly exaggerated lying, the hypocrisy is itself a projection of power. They want you to see that there's no pretense of justice or fairness.
I'm all for pardons and second chances. But it's a hell of a juxtaposition to pardon millionaire NFL players convicted of drug distribution while you're summarily executing impoverished fishermen making a few hundred bucks to shuttle drugs around the Caribbean.

Hey definitely call your senators about this. Like seriously.
BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.

The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.

Also, the endangerment finding is not even a regulation! It is a legal and scientific determination that greenhouse gases are harmful and must be regulated.

The fact that the Post editorial board describes it this way is just stupid.
Also, STFU with the “regulatory power grab” BS. The endangerment finding stemmed directly from SCOTUS’ Mass v EPA decision, back when the court’s composition wasn’t an ultraconservative’s wet dream
The Washington Post editorial board claims the benefits of reducing climate pollution are "modest"
