I'll admit, I didn't see this one coming. This bumps me up the list of "First they came for..."s higher than I'd expected.

Not the first time. In 2017, the case Pavan v. Smith came to them, from a Arkansas Supreme Court ruling that said same-sex married couples could receive inferior rights to opposite-sex married couples. In a 6-3 decision, Roberts joined Kennedy and the liberal justices in upholding Obergefell.
Breaking: The Supreme Court is now officially considering taking up a case overturning same-sex marriage.

This is the first time in history the court has considered rolling back this right.

Hawaii bans "banned book" displays in public libraries. The irony is apparently lost on them.
Hawaii library system bans displays that refer to 'Banned Books Week,' rebrands to 'Freedom to Read'

One of my sudoku variant puzzles has been featured on BremSter's channel on YouTube! He had a lot of fun solving, and had many nice things to say about the puzzle.

Ghosts have been spotted roaming the halls of Pac Manor. Can you help them move on?

For anyone who needs respite from the news, I highly recommend Taskmaster, an extremely silly long-running UK show in which five comedians compete at absurd tasks. Low-stress, high-pleasure, lots of laughs, utterly disconnected from reality. As your doctor, I hereby prescribe one episode minimum.

I wish more local media would call things what they are. Instead, they represent their corporate overlords and are afraid to rock the boat. So proud of @kylec.bsky.social and @nexton9news.bsky.social here in Denver!
COMMENTARY: If this was happening in another nation, we'd call it by name. It's authoritarianism.

Just one reason I'm skeptical of AI coding tools.
'I destroyed months of your work in seconds' says AI coding tool after deleting a dev's entire database during a code freeze: 'I panicked instead of thinking'

I watched Star Trek reruns with my parents starting at a very young age, so I have no idea what my first episode was. It's quite possible that I became a Trekkie in utero.
Trekkies, if you see this, post your first experience with Star Trek.

Mine: September 8, 1966.

Suppose that Pete Buttigieg is the Democratic nominee in 2028 and wins the presidency. (I know, I know. Humor me.) Further suppose that he runs for reelection in 2032. If that happens, I'll be very disappointed in the Democratic Party if in 2032 they don't choose the campaign slogan RE-PETE!

My vows, which included: "As we stand here today, I look at how far we've explored together. We've traveled from Earth to the distant reaches of the Gamma Quadrant, from the horrors of Arkham to the beaches of Fort Joy, and from the werk room to the main stage. In all of this, we explored together."
Okay, the nerdiest thing at your wedding. Go!

At our wedding, my astronomer husband and I had a planetarium show (YES NERDS WE KNOW). The MC told everyone to get drunk first. During the show my drunk aunt-in-law shouted "SHOW US URANUS" and he had a whole BIT about how Uranus got rammed by something hard and let out a lot of gas. 😂
