Aww. May his memory be a blessing.
Udo Kier has passed away, known here for his performance as a hollow, haunted shell of a man in Give Me Libertè

“fans being turned off by a new show wearing their old show's clothes”

SAY 👏🏽 IT 👏🏽 LOUDER 👏🏽
Season 3 is good! I understand fans being turned of by a new show wearing their old show's clothes, but on its own merits it is good. And it's like jumping 15 years ahead in television trends in structure and theme overnight.
@wskrs.bsky.social Finally caught up and wow I forgot just how many great episodes there are in season 3. Like I don't quite like the darker tone but I like that they finally have a bad guy that isn't gone by the end of the episode, I like the serialisation.

Oh, the seaQuest timeline is abso-fucking-lutely a better timeline than *gestures broadly*
For beneath the surface, as least there's no Eugenics War around the corner
If someone told me we weren't on the Star Trek future timeline, but we were on the seaQuest future timeline, I'd take it.

I do think they do a good job with the fractures in our Big Happy Bridge Crew family--they are both realistic in light of having an entirely new captain, and also good consequences of story decisions that are less well done:
This week is all about relationships aboard the seaQuest. The new direction has shaken up how our cast sees each other, new positions lead to flexing privilege, and the crew and Hudson have no idea how to work with each other. Fertile ground for drama: rss.com/podcasts/wsk...

I will try my hardest to be objective this time through. It’s gonna be hard for me. I will probably die mad about losing my beloved Ortiz. (esp. with the hindsight that Ed Kerr wanted out!!!)
New episode and new SEASON! It's been ten years since seaQuest disappeared to fight the space war, and the oceans have changed. It's a new tone, a new style, and a new situation for those who return; all delivered by the gravel voice of the legendary Michael Ironside. rss.com/podcasts/wsk...

I made myself rewatch "Splashdown" for completeness, but hell YEAH, brother to Grant disliking it so hard. (I admit that a good bit of my hatred--beyond not liking aliens in my sQ--is remembered trauma from 95 when this aired and I thought my beloved show was truly over and ending this badly.)

No Kings today was so energizing, even in my small city on the red end of a blue-purple state!! I really needed that top-up of hope.

I am realizing that @wskrs.bsky.social must not have watched Buffy, because we’ve got “Wolfman!” and Seth Green being attacked by wolves in IT, but no mention of Oz being a werewolf.

Am up to "Dream Weaver" in my trying-to-catch-up-with-the-podcast #seaQuest rewatch, and I was today years old when I realised that the "lecture hall" in this ep is a planetarium*! I wonder if @wskrs.bsky.social has any insight into the filming location for these interiors?

Let's also not forget that before the shirtless sword-twirling is this delightful but of business when Miguel is taunting Brody (sir. my panties are melting.)

When you say the strongest blade in the world will shatter if not for the delicate touch of a lesbian, can you include me in that as well? The lesbians and Marco Ortiz if it's not too much trouble thanks guys

Grant liking Henderson in this one reminded me that we called her "Ho of the High Seas" back in the day, which was...not kind. But the writers couldn't seem to do much with her beyond having nearly every male crew member either date or crush on her. 😖

(lbr, we also wanted Katie back)
New episode! Four crew members are trapped in a tense, dire situation. One faces certain death, and the outlook for the rest isn't much better. What could possibly add to the suspense? Dragon Worm!

Honestly, this just reminds me how BADLY I want to dive in the updated Alvin ... and how unlikely I am to get that opportunity. Still very blessed to have gotten to dive the one time.

But the new sphere and better windows though 🤤
Looks like Bridger and co better STEP IT THE FUCK UP
Fast-forward 4 years and a ton of research later, and my initial estimate remains the same--we've seen ~0.001% of the deep seafloor, an area approx the same as the size of Rhode Island.

🚨🚨seaQuest 2047 mentioned!!🚨🚨

(I was on the 2047 writing staff. I didn't know we had fanfic!! that's amazing and i want to read it!!)
seaQuest's second season is known for leaning into sci-fi plots and action, with few better examples than this conspiracy thriller about a targeted virus and a witness kept in cryo sleep. Season 2 should also be known for suspiciously young hot moms. rss.com/podcasts/wsk...

I mean, this one is actually kind of prescient. Worldwide plague that made everyone stay indoors and only interact electronically? Over-reliance on "AI"? Addiction to the easy dopamine of being an awful person on the social Internet? Yeahhhhhh, that'll never happen.
