Okay I couldn't actually finish The Good That Men Do last night so I'm finishing it today.

Making money is not cultural impact. So many popular films and songs get forgotten almost instantly.
Fire and Ash made half a billion dollars in a week and we’re still doing “Avatar has no cultural impact”? Don’t you people have homes to go to?

The Joy Of Trek podcast is so good

As a proud English non-binary male bisexual I can tell you the correct response to someone flying the England flag is a punch to the nose. Unless England is in the Football World Cup, in which case you pity the idiot backing losers.
We need to add the English and UK nations flags to Pride marches to reclaim them from Racist Reform supporters.

Cue the Joy Of Trek podcast soundclip of Janeway screaming "I'm coming, Neelix!"

I am suddenly reminded of the religious couple that were celibate and how the guy would eat a whole raw potato to calm himself down.
Name your fav way to eat potatoes

I know I said I'd probably finish this book tonight but when I went upstairs and laid down in bed I genuinely expected tiredness to take me but this book has been so engrossing.

Okay I'm going to take my anti anxiety meds then read in bed

see this is a shitpost but randomly thinking about it now i do have to wonder as increasing numbers of always-online young people reach electoral age how campaigns will function when opponents (likely, capital interests) can pull reddit comments from when you were 14 or draw on sources like palantir
new plan: i move to portland and immediately run for governor.

By the way I have now finished season 2 of Community and I love Annie. Britta's probably evil and compensating but I adore her too. Jeff falls into the type I love of manipulative bastard. Abed is a little grating at times and so handsome and brilliant I expect him to be on Star Trek but I love him

At least I've worked out why the existential dread has been hitting me. Even before the PTSD attack Christmas kept being this milestone to prepare for and worry about and then I got there and did that and my brain went "Great so I can make progress again" but the Comedy C Plot rules my life still

Phlox just referenced Doctor - Patient Confidentiality while lying his arse off. Given he once violated it so Hoshi could find out what cake he'd like this is hilarious. It'd be like Janeway saying she hates caffeine.

A historic moment, the first canonical instance of Romulan Ale being referenced in The Good That Men Do

Okay in this book Section 31 have a Rutan class shuttle called the Branson. Is the evil organisation's shuttle named after the rich prick that created the Virgin brand and the Doctor Who villain? If not what was it named after?

I have this anxiety that gets to me occassionally like I'm wasting my life. I feel it now and like it's boxing day and my glasses are broken and I've actually done stuff (I had a brood, I ordered a ubuntu tablet, I bought more star trek books) and I'll probably finish this book tonight.
December 26, 2025 at 6:32 PM
The anxiety is circling again. I need to distract myself.

Genuinerly I think the Cybertruck is the single best thing Musk has ever done in his life. He convinced the richest and most bigoted individuals to buy a machine designed to kill them. It was not deliberate but he did it. Sadly I don't think Trump is dumb enough to get in one.
Cybertruck in its natural position.
joining the "cybertruck owners only" group on fb is one of the best decisions i've ever made. every so often when i'm scrolling through fb getting pissed off, i get to see a little treat like this

Pippen, out of nowhere and presumably for no reason: "Fuck."

Merry: "Now what was all that about?"

Pippen: "Just sorta felt like it."
The Lord of The Rings movies were rated PG-13. By current rules that means that each film could contain one use of the word "Fuck". Which line are you altering to insert the most useful swear word?

"I can't carry it for you, but I can Fucking carry you"

A random Romulan killing an underling in frustration with the added element that the slain guy had been hot and hired to be a unicorn for he and his wife but said no is scene that just felt bad though. Like we get it, they're the bad guys you don't need to make them murderous creeps too
