I am so tired of 24 hour news about small boats. I simply don’t care how many migrants arrive in the UK any more. No matter how many, they’ll never be as big a threat to British values, our way of life, or indeed women‘s safety, as the bigots who make yelling about migrants their entire personality.

Right, lads. I've had a little think and the results are clear. It's only a goal before you score it. After that it's an achievement.

You kick the ball past the achievement preventer, over the line (the net is just for housekeeping) and then from now on we all shout "achievement!"

Language matters

Don’t think too much … it might make you irrational
Every so often, I get random chest pain and immediately spiral – is this it? Am I having a heart attack? Then I remind myself that I’m 25, probably overcaffeinated, and maybe just a little stressed…

My (very) short story "Family Recipe" about food--past, present, and future--is out today in Nature Futures.
Food. It’s one of the great pleasures of life. And one of its necessities. Which means that, no matter where you look in time — the distant past, the far-flung future —one question will always resonate.

What’s for dinner?

It is remarkable that the west is committing to spending 5% of GDP on defence, and almost no one has made the case that the most pressing threat to our security this century is climate change and we should be spending more on tackling that.
