this only makes abolishing ICE an even higher priority. they are racing to get this done before they lose their trifecta. but there is a danger that a Democratic government would simply allow these camps to continue to exist. every single one must be dismantled before fully operational if possible
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didn’t even pay to ensure they got home.

There’s a “superstar” layer at every R1 institution I’ve been at that isn’t composed of academics in any sense I recognize. They’re there so the institution can claim them, but they use the university as a launchpad to contracts and speaking engagements. They’re not teaching the intro classes.

Social movement scholar here. Earlier activists had petty beefs but those were wildly exploited by the FBI's COINTELPRO programs, particularly in the case of the Black Power movement. 1/
The successful nonviolence and civil rights movements of the past, as I’ve gathered from reading about them, ALSO featured a shit ton of incessant petty drama and in-fighting.

But crucially, they didn’t have social media - so this was kept far more private.
