I had no idea perimenopause even existed until I started EXPERIENCING IT. It's this weird secret and it really shouldn't be!! It started at 42 for me, I wasn't expecting any changes for another 8 years! TALK ABOUT PERIMENOPAUSE
And maybe I shouldn’t get this parasocial on Main, but fuck it. Nobody told me a thing about perimenopause and I’ll die mad about it. Ask your mom what age she went through it and book support clinics accordingly because menopause care is finally a thing but the wait lists are long!

Today I learned that Americans no longer roast chestnuts over open fires for Christmas because while chestnuts *were* extremely common in Appalachia, a fungal blight all but wiped out the American Chestnut tree in the early 1900s. The species remains critically endangered.

I feel no crimbus cheer. Not a speck. This year feels lonely and tired. I'm very much aware that as an adult I am responsible for creating my own holiday magic, but damn if I had zero bandwidth for it. Maybe next year.

Most of all, drop that "we're fucked" mindset. Time to leave that doomerism bullshit behind and focus on doing good.
I want 2026 to be the year where we collectively stop rewarding negativity. Stop bringing others down to bring yourself up. Stop bringing attention to genuinely awful people. Stop ignoring people bringing positive changes to the world. We need more kindness and empathy. I’m dead serious
