Incredible. To get a leg up over Europe and avoid tariffs, we give a subsidy to X and Meta, both of which are actively undermining UK democracy. We should be harmonising tech regulation and taxes with Europe and using our combined heft to oppose the US.
This would be a monumental capitulation not just to inherently extractive American businesses that undercut and kill British companies but also to businesses that are tearing apart our social fabric and poisoning the minds of Britons, particularly children.
