Another being Respite care, which allows the caregivers of those with complex needs to take a break and be sure their loved one is safe and cared for.

These services directly correlate to people with disabilities staying in their homes, with their families.

Caregivers DESERVE & NEED the help.

I’m going to rant and rave A LOT about how there are (almost certainly) going to be major cuts to state provided HCBS.

(Home and Community Based Services, separate from mandated Long Term Services/Supports)

Why not give ya a quick breakdown of what some of those community focused programs are!?

Please take some time to learn about HCBS and LTSS. I was completely ignorant to these things and they are so so critical to those who receive these waivers and services.

The things that arent required by law are the first to lose funding when states are forced to choose how to fill funding gaps.

Heya pals!

It's a (not so) Marvelous #MedicaidMonday and I was talking to my buddy @altstategov.altgov.info and, folks, well to be quite blunt, we're pretty pissed off at @democrats.senate.gov caving last night.

For today's #Medicaid Monday, let's talk about some of the OTHER parts of the ACA

9/9 AltCDC remembers when “service” meant showing up.

We want to help - our admin won’t let us.

🙋
Reporters: please look into this.
👉 Ask why CDC won’t send Epi-Aid teams when lives are at stake.
👉 Ask who made the call.
👉 Ask why.

2/9 For the uninitiated:

An Epi-Aid is how CDC’s disease detectives (EIS officers) jump in when something’s going wrong — outbreaks, disasters, poisonings, you name it.

First step: States, tribes, foreign governments formally request help

Mega🧵 CDC IGNORES URGENT EPI AID REQUESTS

1/9 🚨 Maine is facing the largest HIV outbreak in its history.
It asked CDC for help.
😡 CDC is ignoring the request.

This is not getting enough attention in the news — and it should be.

After initially approving Penobscot County's request for CDC aid, the agency put it on hold. Meanwhile, the virus spreads.
