if "many quick clips of two horrendously famous white men trading boring punches in a gray world" is what makes "it" be "over" for you, lemme posit it's been over for you for a long time, and there are many people out there still able to plunge the depths of their own imaginations. and thank god.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ writer Rhett Reese reacts to viral AI video of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting:

“I hate to say it. It’s likely over for us.”

Good. "But DHS isn't just ICE, it's also..." nope, wrong. DHS no longer serves any useful functions, the whole thing has been reassigned to repression. FEMA isn't even paying out to states. All DHS does is shooting, teargassing, facial recognition, and administrative warrants. Shut it down.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

This is such a win for Seattle (and movie people everywhere). We’re lucky to have Scarecrow!
We just bought our longtime building! Purchasing our forever home marks an exciting and transformative turning point for our physical media library and Seattle’s creative ecosystem.
We cannot wait to share more exciting updates with you in the months ahead! scarecrowvideo.org/posts/scarec...

Inappropriate laughter at movies is not a new phenomenon. I saw Mulholland Drive on initial release and people laughed all throughout. Noir City screenings in Seattle in the '00s were full of chuckleheads. Really depends on the audience/venue/location.

Every time I see this meme in the wild I get a little thrill because I was in the room (I was a writer/producer/editor on this video along with my comrades. Shot in 2019 during Fantastic Fest). The only evidence I can offer is this photo of @zeepeegeebee.bsky.social in a cat head in the same room

In a doctor's office waiting room and there's a weird nu-country cover of Bowie's "Rebel Rebel" with reworked lyrics playing. Reprehensible!

Woke up at 4am with the John Fahey-esque Cul de Sac song from the Dildo Heaven soundtrack stuck in my head, found out it is in fact a John Fahey cover and is on bandcamp here (for everyone else suffering from this specific ailment)

Fond memory of smoking weed out of a pinch hitter with @colonelmortimer.bsky.social outside under the marquee before going to watch Ninja (2009) on Thanksgiving day after our shift at Scarecrow.
The last moviehouse in the University District will close its doors this week, after 85 years. It’s very sad news; the Varsity — where my parents went to movies when they were at the UW, in the 1950s — was a place filled with stories. www.seattletimes.com/entertainmen...
This longtime Seattle movie theater is closing
The Varsity Theatre is closing, effective Thursday, leaving the U District, once a hub of moviegoing, without a movie theater.

If there’s a better obituary for an evil cartoonist than an A.I. generated version of his character that fucks up the defining detail of its design, I can’t think of it. No notes. 👨🏻‍🍳 💋

In INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS when the Sam Jackson voiceover says, "At that time, 35mm nitrate film was so flammable..." the "at that time" really annoys me, because there is no time in which 35mm nitrate film wasn't flammable.
#FilmSky, a quick question; what is the pettiest thing you have had to be annoyed at a film? I ask because I am watching The Gift from 2000, and the main character does divination with Zener Cards, which are not the same thing as Tarot at all. Why go for a more boring looking option?
