Yep. Episodes on Monday nights, BBC2 10pm.

There are two on iPlayer but we’re waiting for the proper broadcast of episode 2. It’s a treat so don’t want to rush it.

Turns out I was right - you give Mackenzie Crook a budget and he creates magic.

Small Prophets - my previous assertion that Mackenzie Crook should just be given budget and allowed to make whatever the hell he wants remains vindicated. Pure magic.

Because there genuinely is a distinct difference between films and movies, and I’m glad Bluesky has sufficient nuance to recognise it.

He no longer has the job title - how confident are we that he won’t still be running things and dictating policy from behind the scenes?

Don’t ever let it be suggested that Peter Mandelson is a big old political cliche.

The new episode of ‘The Muppet Show’ on Disney+ is fantastic, and you should all watch it to ensure it gets a full series.

But that assumes he isn’t just a cog in that very same machinery. That he’s danced around like a puppet on McSweeney’s strings (and essentially continues to do so) suggests that he is not apart from that tendency, but an integral part of it.

Fitting that Streeting, who rose by carrying water for the worst people in the world, should fall for the same reason.
In these dark days of February, a little something to look forward to.

Maybe you should partner with a more ethical streaming service - because this feels like cognitive dissonance.

There are always enough people who likely know it’s a bubble but think they’re smart enough to play the game and get out before the crash.

I think ‘I Believe In Father Christmas’ by Greg Lake is a humanist Christmas song.

What *is* certainly the case is that magic (or if you prefer ‘Magick’) doesn’t work on all of the people all of the time.

Yes, this is an argument based on semantics - so sue me. 😁

And insofar as *anything* is magic, or whether such things as spells exist - then the law *is* pretty much functionally magic and legislation is a form of ritual that affects the World we live in, as per the idea of a spell. It’s how we use our collective consciousness to shape our World.

Where they don’t make sense is when the weight of decades (or centuries) of social convention bend them out of shape. Laws built around ‘these drugs are bad’ vs ‘these are massively damaging but taxed and socially acceptable’ don’t allow the nuance required to properly deal with issues around drugs.

Yep. That’s no Auton, that’s a Super-Voc disguised as a Dum.

I see the slipcover edition is already sold out and there are less than 500 of the standard edition left. That’s going to completely sell out in record time. Amazing!

Already preordered yesterday 😁

Didn’t realise it was coming out on a @vinsyn.bsky.social partner label. That’s fantastic - I’m a subscriber.
