Yeah - it was more likely Saturdays than Fridays. Though my dad woke me up once on a Friday night when I was young and brought me downstairs to watch the last half of ‘The Lost Continent’ because of the monsters. A memory that’s stayed with me, and definitely a Friday.

I was a big fan of Hammer at that age - they’d be on the BBC in Friday night double bills, and I’d be allowed to stay up for them (it not being a school night).

But then you have to follow that with ‘The Final Problem’. He should get to know Holmes for a bit before ‘killing him off’.

Lovely to see these two together now given their conflicting chemistry back in the day.

Disagree. This was fun.

The conceit of the first film is great. To try to pull it off again with an actor who was clearly too old to fool the audience a second time was pure hubris.

And you know those with such exacting standards are going to be an absolute physical (and emotional) mess.

Quite enjoyed it at the cinema. There’s the Jaws homage opening third, followed by an Indiana Jones mid section and finally an Aliens final third. All led by Scarlett Johanssen.
You need to loosen up and just allow yourself to have some fun. It’s waaay better than the Chris Pratt nonsense.

It needs fixing, not binning. You are absolutely playing right into the hands of those who have been attacking it for decades (and with this story more specifically the Daily Telegraph), people who resent a national broadcaster on principle but are salivating to buy up it’s most juicy assets.

Sky are about to buy ITVs broadcast division. I find this development very worrying.
The BBC has been captured - but it needs retaking, not destroying, because that’s what the billionaire media owners actually want to happen.

I was rather hoping they’d put back all the books they took out years ago, and returned to being a proper SF shop rather than a toy shop.

Did my bit and voted slate.
But they’re gonna keep coming back every year, so we need to remain vigilant and mobilise more members if ever it looks like they might be in danger of surging again.
These racist pricks need to be shut down in no uncertain terms at every turn.

It’ll be identical apart from the spine and the copyright page. Some collectors are sniffy about book club editions - depends on how fussy you are.

One small note of caution. Looking at the photos more closely this looks like a copy of the Allan & Unwin edition but the spine says BCA so I think this is a version they put out for Book Club Associates. So a book club edition, generally regarded as inferior (though may match the version you had).
