One of perverse dynamics of Trumpism, how a frequently toadyish establishment press undergirds a system in which Trumpists regularly accuse Democrats of being “the Nazis” and we have frequent revelations in which Trump insiders tell each other “we’re the Nazis”

Along with the $20 billion U.S. taxpayer bailout to Argentina, the Trump admin announced another $20 billion for Argentina from private banks. But the banks won’t lend the money without a guarantee from the federal government. So it’s a $40B taxpayer bailout.

An HHS source says admin also RIFed entire Office of Population Affairs last night.
“Not a single staff person to run our nation's family planning program or the evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention program. The Office of Adolescent Health which nested within OPA functionally ceases to exist”

America enters a new, dark chapter: "Kavanaugh Raids" on entire buildings and neighborhoods, a chapter surely to be remembered as infamously as we now view the "Palmer Raids" of the first Red Scare. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/welcome-to...

I literally wrote earlier today that ICE and CBP are "a portrait of an authoritarian secret police that seems set to model itself on history’s worst fascist enforcers." www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/welcome-to...

Case in point here:
ICE agents tear-gassing neighborhoods while sitting in their cars is some messed up shit. As @gregdoucette.bsky.social would say, “cops are great.”

When we win by having someone else lose, we set up a conflict.
It’s clear, direct but not generative.
But when we win by confronting our fear, everyone benefits.
Often, people who choose to battle others are actually better off looking at their fear instead. - Seth Godin

Just to note. January 23, 2019 there was a vote to reopen government (HJ RES 28, roll call vote 46) when the govt had been shut down for 30 days.

Mike Johnson voted “no” on that.

They didn’t seem to mind shutdowns then

Just because I saw someone mention it: There’s no reason to think that TPUSA/Kirk had a significant effect on the 2024 election. The turnout operation was non-existent and claims that they/he are the central (or even a major) cause of young voters moving right aren’t backed by any actual evidence.
