One unexpected thing moving to Canada - compared to the UK companies like @thermofishersci.bsky.social and @sigmaaldrich.bsky.social have absolutely abysmal shipping times. It takes *weeks* for things that are 'in stock' to be delivered.

I have vastly underestimated the amount of work that goes into moving a lab across an ocean. Great time to be buying loads of stuff that is mostly imported too....

New Type VII ABC Transporter just dropped!

We are super excited to present our characterisation of the YbbAP-TesA complex, a novel Type VII ABC transporter linked to a periplasmic thioesterase.

SCAM ALERT. This is a fake conference that ripped off my and other people’s names to trick people into registering. There is no such conference that I or the others shown were invited or agreed to. We are working to try to get this fraud taken down from the web.

Excited to be at the first ever GRC on the biology of mycobacteria. Finally a myco meeting that is not immunology or drug-focused!

The punishment for having more than one structure in a manuscript is having to interface with OneDep multiple times. What a brutal interface. Someone give the PDB some more money and a web designer, please.

I am begging people to use fewer acronyms (ideally zero) in their grant/fellowship etc apps. As a panelist if I am even slightly off your subject area it makes it really challenging to parse.
