Welcome to London, all you school holiday tourists and suburban Christmas shoppers (not sarcasm!).

A gentle reminder, once again, that the time to start checking your pockets/bag for your Oyster card, ticket, or phone, is *WELL BEFORE* you are standing right in front of the turnstile.

Man. Sixty years. I feel old as dirt.

What's the best part of this: immortalising Vince Guaraldi's music, immortalising Charles Schultz's art (I'm sorry to say, I don't think the comic strip is going to do it) or immortalising the concept of having little kids do little kid voice-acting?
Sixty years ago tonight, December 9, 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas, a special that became an American institution & a perennial part of the TV landscape for generations, debuted.

Sadly, it's locked behind a streaming platform most of us don't have.

So, screw you, Apple & WildBrain.

After this weekend's racist attacks on the EU, I've written a column about the moral obligation to stop posting on X.

Oh no, wait, I wrote it *two years ago* when it was blatantly obvious what was going on and how it would get much much worse.

The betrayal of Ukraine will be recorded in whatever history remains if we survive all of this as one of the most shameful moments in American history. I am nauseated by it all. What a disgrace.
Read my scoop overnight from Kyiv, where US army secretary Dan Driscoll’s brief meeting (he was running late after calls with Vance) with European ambassadors at the US ambassador’s residence in Podil left one feeling “nauseated” and others “shocked.” W/ @henryjfoy.ft.com

Yep, the Supreme Court really is just a House of Lords—a purely political branch with bizarre veto power, wielded capriciously and without accountability. Time for massive reform.

I love a modern western, and the cast is dynamite, but the first two episodes of The Abandons sure have been a dreary slog. I don't know if I can stick it out.

The bsky Discover feed is something else. The kinkster stuff (no hate, kinksters! you do you, I'm just old and naive, I guess) that's popping up in my feed periodically amongst the politics, science, sports, etc. is some wild shit.

Pringles are such a weird product. They seem like something that would be a niche, faddish item, and yet they're still in all the stores, in different countries, decades later.

I've had a longstanding weakness for crunchy snacks, which, with age and maturity, I defeated by simply not bringing them in the house.
Just saw a post bitching about the grossness of turkey&dressing flavoured potato chips and I'm about to go out and kill a whole bag of them so thanks for that.

We need to understand the NYT as an epistemological enemy. Not an imperfect institution, but an active bad actor. Its editorial choices cause widespread, real-world harm.
The NYT definitely made a choice not to add “without evidence” to this headline.

If America's elites gave a shit about all that wisdom-of-the-founders stuff they want us to believe, this would be Trump's fate already. The end of US democracy lies in unaccountability.

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
